Description
Ellen Kurokawa, also known as Siren and Cure Beat, is a character with a complex history who appears as part of the ensemble in the film Precure All Stars New Stage 2: Kokoro no Tomodachi. She originally hails from the Suite Precure television series, where her story of redemption and transformation first unfolds. Within the context of the All Stars film, she joins ranks with many other Precure warriors to face a new threat, drawing upon her experiences as a former antagonist turned heroine.

Originally, Ellen was born as Siren, a cat-like fairy from the mystical land of Major Land. She was once the honored annual singer of the "Melody of Happiness" and a childhood friend and mentor to the fairy Hummy. However, when Hummy was chosen for the role instead of her, Siren’s jealousy was exploited by the antagonist Mephisto, leading her to defect to Minor Land. Under his influence, she was brainwashed and became an agent of discord, using a magical pendant to assume the human guise of a girl named Ellen Kurokawa. In this form, she worked to spread the "Melody of Sadness" and opposed the Precure team, showing herself to be cold, calculating, and manipulative.

Her path took a dramatic turn when Hummy’s unwavering faith in her broke Mephisto’s control. Driven by a powerful desire to protect her friend, Siren’s potential as a Precure was awakened, shattering her pendant. With its destruction, she lost her original feline form and shapeshifting abilities, becoming permanently fixed in the human identity of Ellen Kurokawa. She then transformed into Cure Beat, the blue-themed Precure who uses a guitar-shaped weapon called the Love Guitar Rod. This event marked her transition from a villain to a member of the Suite Precure team, a journey defined by seeking redemption for her past actions.

As Ellen, her personality is a stark contrast to her former cunning and distant demeanor as Siren. She becomes cheerful, upbeat, and inquisitive, showing great excitement about learning and experiencing the human world. However, she retains a hint of her past insecurities and a certain naivety, such as being prone to childish fears or becoming easily flustered. She is passionate and dedicated, particularly to her friends and to her dream of using music to bring happiness. In the Suite Precure series, she lives with a kind lute craftsman named Otokichi Shirabe and attends school with her teammates Hibiki Hojo and Kanade Minamino, where she is eager to fit in and form genuine friendships.

In the film Precure All Stars New Stage 2: Kokoro no Tomodachi, Ellen appears as Cure Beat alongside over thirty other Precure warriors. The movie's plot revolves around a school for fairies where a shadow creature begins stealing the Precures’ transformation objects and capturing their fairy partners. Ellen’s role in this ensemble is defined by her unique perspective as someone who was once an enemy. Along with Cure Passion, another Precure who started as a villain, she offers advice and understanding to the film’s primary antagonist, a troubled fairy named Gureru. Her personal experience with redemption allows her to empathize with his feelings of jealousy and confusion, and she encourages him to apologize for his mistakes and seek a new beginning. This highlights her completed character arc, from a being consumed by negativity to a hero who embodies forgiveness and second chances.

As Cure Beat, Ellen possesses a range of musical-themed abilities. Her signature weapon is the Love Guitar Rod, which can be used for both defensive and offensive attacks. Her techniques include Beat Barrier, which creates a protective shield, and offensive moves such as Beat Sonic and Heartful Beat Rock, which unleash powerful energy rings and projectiles. Her hair itself has a unique property, able to produce the sound of an electric guitar when she flicks it. She can also communicate telepathically with her teammates. In the All Stars film, she fights in coordination with the other Precure, and her powers, like theirs, are amplified when they unite in the film's climax to perform the Miracle Double Heart Light, a collective attack that showcases their combined strength.
