TV-Series
Description
Gundiver refers to a team of seven identical mobile defenders featured in Superior Defender Gundam Force. These units were specifically developed for and specialize in underwater combat operations. Collectively, they are known as the Gundivers, with Unit 1 serving as the main leader and Unit 2 as the sub-leader of the group. Standing at approximately 152 centimeters tall and weighing around 121 kilograms, they are designed to work as a cohesive team to deal with maritime threats near Neotopia.
In terms of personality, the Gundiver brothers are depicted as being extremely obedient, earnest, and meticulous, often speaking in a very formal and businesslike tone. They have a unique speech pattern where Units 1 and 2 might begin a statement, and subsequent units will finish it. Despite their robotic and by-the-book demeanor, they possess a strong sense of sacrifice, willing to give all their energy to save others and protect the peace of Neotopia, which gives their otherwise mechanical speech a refreshing, earnest quality.
Their primary motivation is the protection of Neotopia, and they carry out their duties as guardians of the seas with unwavering dedication. Within the story, their role is that of specialized defenders, and they are noted to be the excellent pupils of their instructor, Gunbiker. Their effectiveness is amplified by their ability to work in perfect synchronization, as they are designed to operate as a unit. Later in the series, they are remodeled into aerial combat units known as GunChoppers, which are equipped with rotors and can transform into a helicopter-like form, featuring missile launchers and beam gatlings instead of their original underwater armament.
Key relationships among the team are defined by their identity as brother units who cooperate seamlessly and care for one another. Their development sees them transition from a water-exclusive force to a more versatile aerial unit, the GunChopper, in which they continue to utilize their cooperative team attacks in the final battle against General Zeong and later participate in reconstruction efforts.
Notable abilities and equipment include a snorkel beam trident and beam boomerangs stored on their backpack hydro units, which are unique in that they can generate beam blades even underwater. They are also armed with torpedo launchers on their arms and shoulders, as well as screw units that can be deployed from their limbs to create powerful whirlpools. For deep-sea diving, their backpack units can transform into submarine mode. Their signature team techniques include the Maximum Spiral, where all seven units form a circle and generate a massive whirlpool, and the Rainbow Vortex Shoot, where they throw their beam boomerangs in perfect formation to create a high-speed vortex.
