Description
Marin de Águia, also known as the Eagle Silver Saint, is a central supporting character in the Saint Seiya universe and appears in the film Saint Seiya Tenkai-hen Josou: Overture. She is one of the few female Saints to have earned her armor and serves as the mentor of the protagonist, Pegasus Seiya.

Born in Japan on 18 March, Marin was orphaned at a young age and lost contact with her younger brother. This loss became a driving force throughout her life. She travelled to the Sanctuary in Greece to train as a Saint, eventually receiving the Silver Cloth of the Eagle constellation. During her training, she demonstrated exceptional analytical skills and a calm, composed demeanor, traits that would define her as a warrior.

In Tenkai-hen, Marin’s personal story deepens significantly. The film reveals that her long‑lost brother is Tohma de Ícaro, a warrior who has fallen under the influence of the gods. Marin’s motivations are strongly tied to this familial bond. She is shown holding Tohma’s body after he is defeated by Seiya, expressing a deep, quiet affection for the brother she had spent years searching for. This moment highlights her vulnerability and the emotional weight of her past, contrasting with her usual composed exterior.

Throughout the original series, Marin is portrayed as rational, perceptive, and fiercely protective of her pupil. She was one of the first Saints to suspect the corruption of the Great Pope and climbed Star Hill alone to uncover the truth. Her loyalty to Athena and to Seiya often put her at odds with the Sanctuary’s hierarchy. She faked Seiya’s death to protect him from his pursuers and later aided him directly during the assault on the Sanctuary, even removing her own mask to help him cross a deadly rose path. Her relationship with Seiya is that of a strict but caring instructor, and she becomes a trusted ally to the Bronze Saints.

A notable subplot involves her mutual, unspoken romantic feelings for Leo Aiolia. Both are bound by their duties as Saints, which prevents them from pursuing a personal relationship. This unfulfilled connection adds a layer of melancholy to her character.

In terms of abilities, Marin is a powerful Silver Saint known for her speed and adaptability. Her signature techniques include the Lampejo da Águia (Eagle Flash), a devastating kick that mimics the dive of an eagle and can incapacitate or kill an opponent, and the Meteor Punch, a rapid‑fire attack that she taught to Seiya (though he adapted it as Pegasus Ryu Sei Ken). She also possesses a sharp tactical mind, able to quickly read an opponent’s weaknesses and adjust her fighting style accordingly.

Marin’s development in Tenkai-hen centers on the resolution of her search for her brother. While she does not engage in extensive combat in the film, her emotional arc provides a poignant closure to a long‑standing personal quest. Her role serves as a reminder of the human connections that persist even amidst divine conflicts, and her quiet strength remains a defining aspect of her character.
