Description
Katsuya Honda was the late father of Tohru Honda and husband of Kyoko Honda. He died from pneumonia at age 28 when his daughter was three. His death plunged Kyoko into a severe depression that almost resulted in her suicide.

Born into a family with an unnamed father, mother, and younger sister, Katsuya frequently clashed with his strict father, a former teacher. Their relationship improved after his mother died of an illness, an event that later motivated Katsuya's career change into pharmaceuticals. He initially studied teaching due to family pressure, admitting he built "walls" around his true self to conform, though he held no real passion for education.

While interning at a middle school, Katsuya encountered 13-year-old Kyoko, a delinquent student. Despite their eight-year age gap (he was 21; she was 13) and his position as an authority figure, he interpreted her behavior as a cry for attention and love. He initiated contact by inviting her to lunch, teasing her as "Miss No Eyebrows" for her shaved brows. Their bond grew through weekend meetings and rooftop talks, with Kyoko attending school mainly to see him. Katsuya later confessed romantic feelings for her, admitting to a "Lolita complex."

After Kyoko's parents disowned her following gang-related hospitalization, Katsuya intervened and proposed marriage. She accepted, and they married soon after, though his family (except his father) disapproved due to her background and age. They lived happily, welcoming daughter Tohru. Katsuya chose their daughter's name and cherished her, often carrying her on his shoulders. During Kyoko's pregnancy, he reassured her about parenting fears, emphasizing they would raise the child together as a family.

Following Katsuya's death, Tohru adopted his polite speech to comfort Kyoko. His absence profoundly affected both: Kyoko nearly walked into the ocean after him, stopping only when reminded of Tohru, while Tohru initially hid his photos, viewing him negatively. By adulthood, she reconciled his memory, displaying family photos openly.
