Description
Ran, whose full name is Ran Morimura, is a supporting character in the anime Harukanaru Toki no Naka de: Ajisai Yumegatari. She is a young woman originally from modern-day Kyoto who was summoned into the world of Kyou, a realm modeled on Heian-era Kyoto, by the demon Akuram some time before the main events of the story. Although she comes to be associated with the Oni, or demon, clan, she is technically not a member of that clan by blood. She is actually the long-lost sister of Tenma Morimura, a central male character among the heroes, and her presence in Kyou is a direct result of Akuram's actions.
Akuram brought Ran to Kyou with the intention of making her the Ryuujin no Miko, the priestess chosen to connect with the dragon god. She was, however, too frightened to establish that connection, and so she could not take on the role. This fear is a defining element of her personality.
