Description
Iktidal is a seasoned elder of the Oni Clan who serves as a trusted lieutenant to its chief. He is distinguished by his weathered features, including facial hair and an eyepatch, the latter of which is a permanent mark of his punishment for past insubordination. Among the longest-living members of his clan, Iktidal operates within a fractured moral framework, constantly torn between unwavering loyalty to his kin and the quiet pull of his own conscience. His past is deeply intertwined with Seri, the elder sister of an allied figure, with whom he shared a clandestine romance that clashed with his obligations. This personal bond strains his resolve, particularly when the clan’s directives endanger those whom Seri holds dear.

Driven by two warring impulses, Iktidal seeks vengeance for the ancient suffering of the oni while simultaneously yearning to broker peace between his people and humanity. Although duty binds him to the clan’s ambitions, he engages in subtle, subversive acts to sabotage the collateral damage caused by their plans. His defiance once cost him an eye in the anime adaptation, a consequence that is absent from the corresponding manga account. Iktidal plays a central role in conflicts involving the Oni Clan’s manipulation of the Priestess of the Dragon God, and his choices ripple through pivotal battles, exposing a layered understanding of authority and atonement. His character arc consistently mirrors this internal duality across different adaptations, though expanded materials do not elaborate on his roles in spin-off stories.
