Description
Orpheus de Harpa, known in the original Japanese material as Lyra Orpheus, is a character from the animated film Saint Seiya: Evil Goddess Eris, the first theatrical movie of the franchise. The name de Harpa comes from the Brazilian Portuguese dubbing; in the story itself he is a Silver Saint of the Lyra constellation, even though that localization presented his constellation as the harp. He is one of the Ghost Five, a group of five deceased Saints brought back to life by the goddess Eris to serve her in her plan to seize power.

In life, Orpheus was a Silver Saint of Athena who died in a distant and unspecified era. The film does not explore his personal history before his death; what is shown is that he was a legendary figure of the past, since Shun recognizes his Cloth as belonging to a legendary Saint mentioned in ancient poems. When Eris revives him, she grants him and the other Ghost Saints new bodies rather than merely reanimating their bones, and Orpheus acts as a faithful servant of the goddess from the moment of his return.

His personality is presented in two layers. When he first confronts Shun of Andromeda, he appears calm and composed, even subtle in his manner. As the fight progresses, however, he reveals a harsher and more menacing side, taking apparent pleasure in his power and showing clear willingness to kill his opponent. He never questions his mission or shows internal conflict, behaving as a loyal instrument of Eris throughout his appearance.

His motivation is simple and tied to his role: as one of the Ghost Five, he exists to serve Eris and to eliminate the Saints of Athena who come to rescue the captured goddess. In the story, he acts as one of the guardians of Eris's sanctuary, intercepting Shun and engaging him in battle. He uses the strings of his instrument to ensnare his opponent, and his most notable technique, Stringer Requiem, nearly kills Shun by wrapping him in deadly cords. Before Orpheus can finish the attack, Phoenix Ikki arrives and defeats him, saving his brother. With that, Orpheus dies again, just like the other Ghost Saints, and takes no further part in the film's events.

His key relationships are limited. His main tie is to Eris, his resurrecting goddess and mistress, and his only other connection is to his fellow Ghost Five members, with whom he shares the mission of defending the sanctuary. He has no meaningful bond with any protagonist; his contact with them consists solely of the battle against Shun and his quick defeat by Ikki. Because of this, Orpheus undergoes no character development. He remains an antagonist from his revival to his final defeat, serving the film's plot without any arc or change.

Notable abilities: as a Silver Saint, Orpheus possesses the superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes typical of his class. His defining power is his music-based combat, in which he channels his cosmos through his instrument. His playing produces sounds that affect opponents on both physical and psychological levels, and the strings of his instrument can extend and act like whips or cords, capable of ensnaring, constricting, and cutting an enemy. His signature technique in the film, Stringer Requiem, demonstrates this by immobilizing and nearly killing Shun. The film version of the character should not be confused with another Lyra Saint with a similar name, Orphee de Lira, who appears in the Hades storyline of the series; despite the visual and thematic resemblance, they are distinct characters, and Orpheus de Harpa belongs exclusively to the non-canonical events of the Eris film.
