Description
Gomechan is a small, winged creature who serves as the best friend and constant companion of the hero, Dai, in the series. Physically, Gomechan is a unique being, belonging to the species of a golden metal slime. Its appearance is distinguished by a small, metallic, golden body shaped somewhat like a teardrop, complete with a pair of small wings that allow it to fly. In contrast to many other slime creatures, Gomechan has notably large, expressive eyes and, unusually, a mouth that contains small teeth.

The background of Gomechan is far more extraordinary than its simple appearance suggests. Despite living as a seemingly ordinary monster on Dermline Island, its true origin is that of a Tear of God. This is a mythical, living artifact capable of granting any wish, but it will only manifest for an individual with a pure heart. When a young Dai discovered a golden droplet and wished for a friend, the Tear of God took on the form of a golden metal slime to fulfill this desire. This form became permanent, and over the ten years that followed, the Tear developed a distinct personality, becoming the loyal and timid friend known as Gomechan. The name itself is a creation of Dai's, an abbreviation of Golden Metal Slime combined with the affectionate Japanese honorific "chan".

In terms of personality, Gomechan is initially portrayed as being quite timid and something of a coward. However, this timidity is outweighed by a deep and unwavering loyalty to its friends, especially Dai. Despite its nervous disposition, Gomechan consistently demonstrates immense courage and resolve when those it cares about are in danger, bravely attacking far more powerful foes to protect them. Its primary mode of communication is a series of adorable sounds like pii, which are understood intuitively by Dai and the rest of the party. Its core motivation is simply to be with and protect the friends it has gained, fulfilling its original purpose as a wish for companionship.

Within the story, Gomechan plays several vital roles. It is almost always by Dai's side, providing emotional support and encouragement. Early on, Gomechan's rarity and golden body make it a target for a group of fraudulent heroes. Dai's successful rescue of his friend leads to his own recognition as a true hero by the King of Romos, who gifts him the Crown of Champions, which Gomechan frequently carries on Dai's behalf. As the narrative progresses, Gomechan's role expands beyond that of a mere mascot. It joins the hero party on their journey against the Dark Army, offering crucial support with its unique abilities. In a significant turn of events, Gomechan eventually leaves Dai's immediate side to join Chiu's Beast King Commandos, serving as a member of that party during the final conflict.

Key relationships are at the heart of Gomechan's existence. The most significant is its bond with Dai, which is forged from childhood and is the very reason for its form and personality. They share a powerful, unbreakable friendship. Gomechan is also very close with other main characters such as the magician Popp and the warrior Maam, showing great concern for their well-being and being animated in their company. Its relationship with Chiu, a small monster who is also courageous despite being weak, is particularly notable. Gomechan decides to join Chiu's party after being inspired by his tenacity and later risks its own life to save him from a powerful enemy.

Gomechan undergoes subtle but meaningful development. While always loyal, it demonstrates a growing capacity for self-sacrificial courage. Initially just a frightened companion that follows Dai everywhere, Gomechan evolves into an active protector. A profound moment of development occurs when it travels to the afterlife to successfully persuade the spirit of the fallen Popp to return to the world of the living, showcasing a resolve that transcends its timid nature. The narrative also provides a development of the audience's understanding of Gomechan, revealing it not as a random monster but as a divine entity that chose to remain in its friend-like form out of love and loyalty.

Notable abilities make Gomechan a surprisingly powerful and invaluable ally. Its most prominent ability is its potent healing tears, which have strong restorative properties and can rejuvenate Dai and his friends even from severe exhaustion or injury. Gomechan can also unleash its inner power to perform a high-speed, radiant yellow charge attack powerful enough to dent orichalcum, an incredibly hard metal. It possesses remarkable durability and resilience, having survived a powerful strike from the formidable Dragon Knight Baran. Furthermore, Gomechan is the only one completely immune to the corrupting influence of the Dark Lord and his miasma, a trait that hints at its divine origin. Its most extraordinary ability is its capacity to navigate spiritual realms, such as the path to the afterlife, and communicate with the souls of the departed.
