Description
Koto Hoshino, who transforms into Miko Rayer, is the central protagonist of The Cosmopolitan Prayers. She is a seventeen-year-old high school student who idolizes the brave character Misuzu from her favorite video game and yearns to become just as courageous. Her ordinary life is upended during a school excursion to the Izumo temple, where she discovers a strange watch and unknowingly performs a ritual that seals away the Sun Goddess Amaterasu. This act transports her to a parallel world where Earth appears empty except for the Cosmopolitan Prayers, a group of priestesses dedicated to purifying dark towers and combating evil. Learning that she was tricked into imprisoning Amaterasu, Koto joins the Prayers as Miko Rayer, driven by guilt and a desire to set things right.
As a character, Koto is initially portrayed as an ordinary, somewhat insecure teenager who lacks the bravery she admires in fiction. She is pure-hearted and earnest, which makes her a suitable vessel for the spiritual power required by the Prayers.
