Description
Prince Arthur is a recurring character in the anime Kaiketsu Zorori, appearing from the very first episode. He is a young black panther prince with blue eyes and red cheeks. In his early appearances he wears a black shirt with puffy blue shoulders and yellow sleeves, a red cape, blue pants, and black boots. As a prince of the story's animal world, his position ties him closely to Princess Elzie, the young woman he loves and with whom he is engaged.

Arthur is serious, kind, honest, and courageous, with a strong sense of justice. He stands in clear contrast to Zorori, serving as the upright, heroic counterpart to the mischievous fox. His straightforward nature makes him easy to deceive, and he has been fooled by Zorori in disguise, such as when Zorori pretended to be an elderly woman at a cafeteria. He was also left dumbfounded when a dragon appeared in the middle of his engagement ceremony. Despite these setbacks, he remains sincere and good-hearted.

Arthur's main motivations are protecting Princess Elzie, defending his castle and kingdom, and acting justly. He and Zorori are old acquaintances and love rivals. Because Zorori repeatedly schemes to take over Arthur's castle and win Elzie for himself, Arthur constantly finds himself caught in dangerous or humiliating situations. He is often the one who ends up as the victim of Zorori's pranks, but he never stops trying to stand in the way of Zorori's ambitions.

In the story, Arthur is a recurring supporting character who provides the romantic rivalry for the protagonist. He is the protective figure in Elzie's life and regularly clashes with Zorori, which makes him a frequent source of both conflict and comedy. His devotion to Elzie defines much of his role, and he endures her willfulness while continuing to love her deeply.

Over the course of the anime, Arthur's relationship with Elzie develops. In one storyline the two take first place in a best-couple contest, and in another he cooperates with Zorori, even if reluctantly, because Elzie asks him to. Later stories show him married to Elzie and the father of two children, Arzel and Martha. In the film Kaiketsu Zorori: Da-da-da-daibōken, he travels by hot air balloon and gives Zorori and his companions a ride, showing that his rivalry with Zorori can give way to moments of goodwill.

Arthur is not portrayed as having any magical powers or extraordinary combat abilities. His strengths are his courage, honesty, and unwavering loyalty to Elzie, along with his willingness to face danger for her sake. His trusting and somewhat naive personality is his main weakness, as it allows Zorori to deceive him repeatedly, but his persistence and good intentions keep him a consistent and dependable presence in the story.
