O-Kame, known in the original Japanese simply as Kame, is the wife of Kumo, the protagonist of the anime Haguregumo. Her name literally means turtle, and English materials translate it as Turtle. She lives with her husband and their two children in Shinagawa-shuku, a post town on the Tokaido road in Edo during the closing years of the Edo period, where the couple operates the wholesaler establishment known as the Yumeya. Although her husband is nominally the head of the household business, he spends his time drinking, chasing women, and playing instead of working, and the family as a whole is known for ignoring work in favor of amusement.
