Description
Barunn is a character from the anime Tweeny Witches, serving as a significant figure within the magical realm. He is a tall man with upright blue hair and distinct sideburns, typically dressed in a purple and black outfit. His most defining characteristic is his status as the only human representative living in the Witch World, which gives him a unique and often conflicted perspective within the story's fantastical setting.

His personality is complex and layered. While he initially acts as a primary antagonist opposing the protagonist Arusu and her friends, he is not a purely evil character. Barunn is often reserved and analytical, preferring to rely on logic and established rules rather than intuition. This methodical nature makes him a reliable, if sometimes inflexible, individual who takes his responsibilities seriously. His actions are heavily driven by a deep-seated personal resentment toward the witches, which stems from painful experiences in his past. This history fuels his initial desire to dominate the Witch World, as he seeks to impose order and perhaps retribution for the suffering he endured. Despite this antagonistic drive, he also demonstrates loyalty and a protective instinct toward those he considers his allies.

In the story, Barunn acts as a crucial link between the human world and the realm of witches. He is a member of a special capture squad alongside two other witches, Biris and Nerabu. Their primary mission is to recapture the fairies that were freed by the protagonist. His role evolves significantly as the plot progresses. Upon discovering that the magic realm is on the verge of destruction, Barunn and his squad rebel against the ruling authorities, Atelia and the sages. Their goal shifts to seizing control of the Witch World before it collapses entirely. Later, they form an uneasy alliance with the character Grande in a quest to obtain the True Book of Spells and gather one hundred species of fairies.

His key relationships are primarily with his two squad mates, Biris and Nerabu, with whom he works closely. Initially regarded as traitors for their use of dark magic, their actions are later recontextualized when it is revealed another character, Eva, was the true source of the dark magic. Throughout the series, Barunn undergoes considerable development, beginning to question his own motivations and past actions, which adds significant depth to his role as a dynamic character who is not easily defined as simply a hero or a villain.

Barunn possesses notable abilities that make him a formidable presence. He has an advanced knowledge of the magical system used by the witches, which allows him to be a powerful adversary and a valuable strategist. His unique position as a human in a magical world gives him a pragmatic and grounded viewpoint that often contrasts with the whimsical nature of the witches around him.
