Description
Colt Wilcox is one of the main protagonists of the cartoon series Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs. Before joining the Star Sheriffs, he worked as a bounty hunter, specifically tracking the Outrider spy known as Vanquo. His personal history is marked by tragedy, as his parents were killed by the Outriders shortly after he left home to join a traveling rodeo. This event is the driving force behind his motivation, as he seeks to avenge their deaths and dedicates his life to fighting the Outriders. He eventually accepts a summons from Commander Eagle to join the Ramrod Equalizer Unit, seeing it as the best path to achieve his goal of hunting down those responsible for his loss.

In terms of personality, Colt is depicted as a charismatic and charming individual who often acts as the jokester of the group. He has a laid-back attitude and fancies himself a ladies' man, frequently flirting with women he meets, though his advances are often unsuccessful. Beneath this outgoing and sometimes childlike facade, he is something of a loner and carries a deep sadness over the death of his parents. He is known for being direct and calling things as he sees them, and he has a particular fondness for leisure time and vacations. While he can be a provocateur and sometimes clashes with teammates due to his hotheaded or flippant nature, he is reliable in tense situations and knows when to become serious.

Colt’s role within the Star Sheriffs is the skilled gunner of the massive transformable starship known as the Ramrod Equalizer Unit, where he is responsible for operating the weapon systems. For solo missions or personal transportation, he pilots his own blue and white one-man spaceship called the Bronco Buster, which is well-suited for reconnaissance. His key relationships within the team are defined by his contrasting personality to the other members. He often requires guidance from the team's leader, Saber Rider, who must remind Colt of his duties and encourage restraint when his temper flares. His camaraderie with the other hot-headed member, Fireball, often leads to a dynamic where the two of them are seen as less-disciplined counterparts to the stalwart Saber Rider. Colt also forms an ironic romantic relationship with a woman named Robin, a pacifist whose non-violent beliefs directly oppose Colt's chosen profession as a gunman.

His notable ability is his nearly infallible accuracy with a blaster. He is considered one of the best marksmen in the New Frontier, honed under the tutelage of his friend and mentor, Timothy Dooley, who taught him everything about shooting. This skill makes him a perfect fit for his position as the gunner aboard the Ramrod. Despite his preference for fun and his aversion to strict discipline, his development throughout the series shows a character who, while driven by revenge, learns to work as part of a team and can be depended upon when the situation becomes dire.
