Description
Führer is the supreme leader of Necrime, the powerful criminal organization that serves as the primary antagonistic force in the future city of Neo Tokyo. His name, the German word for leader, speaks directly to his absolute authority over the vast illegal empire he commands. While he remains an unseen presence for much of the series, his influence is felt in nearly every operation his organization undertakes.

Regarding his background, Führer is a man of considerable age, potentially over one hundred years old by the time the story unfolds. To reach this point, he has relied on advanced scientific methods to artificially extend his life far beyond a natural human lifespan. Despite this, the process is not perfect, and he is ultimately faced with the inevitability of death. His advanced age and the decline of his body are central to his character and his overarching plan.

As a personality, Führer is portrayed as calculating and patient, preferring to operate from the shadows while his subordinates, particularly his second-in-command Ludovich, carry out his will. He possesses a certain degree of pathos; he is not a villain driven by simple malice or a desire for chaos, but by a desperate, almost sympathetic wish to escape his own mortality.

This personal motivation is, in fact, the driving force of the entire narrative. Führer's primary goal is to harness the unique time-travel abilities of the protagonist, Ryū Urashima. He believes that by using Ryū's power, he can not only travel through time but also find a way to rejuvenate his failing body, granting himself a new lease on life. This desire creates a compelling dynamic, as Ryū finds himself developing a sense of empathy for his greatest enemy, despite their opposing roles as a policeman and a crime lord.

In the story's structure, Führer holds the position of ultimate antagonist, standing above other major villains like Ludovich and the field commander Stinger Wolf. For a significant portion of the series, he remains a mysterious, behind-the-scenes figure, with his subordinates running the organization's daily criminal activities. His character is developed more deeply in the latter half of the series, particularly after the twenty-fifth episode, when his personal connection to Ryū and his true motivations are explored, shifting the show away from episodic villain-of-the-week conflicts toward a more focused and serious narrative.

His key relationships are primarily defined by his role as the leader of Necrime. He commands the loyalty of Ludovich, who acts as his dragon, and other high-ranking agents such as Mylène Savelyeva and the various Stinger units. However, his most significant relationship is with Ryū Urashiman. The connection between the young time-displaced policeman and the ancient leader of Necrime forms the emotional and philosophical core of the series, culminating in a climax where the conflict between them transcends a simple battle between good and evil. As the final episodes approach, the narrative focus narrows almost entirely onto their intertwined fates.

Führer does not possess conventional superhuman fighting abilities in the way some of his subordinates do. His primary notable ability is his mastery of life-extension technology, which has allowed him to survive for an unnaturally long time. His true power lies in his intellect, his strategic command over a global criminal empire, and his intense, singular will to live. He is a villain whose greatest weapon is not physical strength, but his profound desire to overcome death itself.
