Description
Haruka is one of the central characters from the reader participation project and subsequent anime, recognized as a quintessential representation of traditional Japanese femininity, often described with the term Yamato Nadeshiko.

Regarding her background, Haruka is 13 years old and in her second year of middle school. Her birthday is on May 16th, making her zodiac sign Taurus. She is notably tall for her age, standing at approximately 156 centimeters, and has a slender build. Her most distinguishing physical feature is her long, beautiful hair, and she is almost always seen wearing a pink kimono, which makes her easily identifiable among the other characters. An interesting facet of her background is that she originally comes from Germany, yet she is deeply devoted to mastering Japanese traditions. She was introduced to the franchise in the year 2000 as one of three new sisters.

Haruka’s personality is defined by a blend of serene grace and profound shyness, particularly in her interactions with her older brother. Having rigorously trained from a young age in traditional etiquette, her posture, movements, and demeanor are naturally refined and devoid of any sense of artificiality. Despite her outward composure and cheerful disposition, she becomes extremely timid and bashful when she is close to her brother, often blushing and struggling to find the right words to say. She tends to be passive, waiting for him to initiate conversation, and frequently retreats into her own romantic fantasies about him, idolizing him as the most handsome, gentle, and unique person in the world. Her conduct is heavily influenced by the concept of "三从四德", or the three obediences and four virtues, a traditional set of moral codes for women.

Her central motivations are rooted in service and protection. She views her primary duty as becoming a true lady and a capable guardian for her brother. Her most heartfelt aspiration is to one day share a dance with him. Within the story's setting on a mysterious island where the siblings live together, Haruka’s role is that of a steadfast caretaker and fierce protector. She is always vigilant, ready to shield her brother from any perceived danger, actively safeguarding him with her skills.

Her key relationships revolve entirely around her brother, whom she addresses formally as "兄长" or "兄长大人". Her entire identity and set of accomplishments are oriented towards gaining his approval and ensuring his well-being. The development of her character, while remaining largely consistent in her core traits, is shown through her persistent, if sometimes awkward, efforts to bridge the gap between her idealized fantasies and her timid reality in order to connect with him.

Haroka possesses a remarkably wide array of notable abilities, all centered on traditional Japanese arts and domestic skills. She is proficient in the tea ceremony, singing, dancing, calligraphy, and ikebana (flower arranging). Furthermore, she excels in practical household matters, including cooking, sewing, and裁缝 (tailoring), as well as fields like medicine and acupuncture that allow her to care for others. In a unique blend of grace and martial prowess, she is also highly skilled in archery and, most notably, the naginata (a traditional Japanese polearm), which she considers an essential tool for her self-imposed mission of protecting her brother.
