TV-Series
Description
Madam Castella, also referred to as Mrs. Castella, is a private tutor who arrives at Amakara Castle from the Pudding Kingdom. She is presented to Princess Anmitsu as a birthday gift on the princess’s tenth birthday, brought by Anmitsu’s parents in the hope of encouraging a more serious approach to her studies and royal duties. Castella is a young, attractive foreign woman, distinguished by a long nose reminiscent of a tengu, a peculiar accent, and a stylish sense of fashion, often seen in high‑collar dresses. Despite coming from abroad, she is deeply integrated into the castle’s daily life.

Her personality is generally warm and lenient. She believes that education involves more than sitting with books, and she frequently overlooks Anmitsu’s slacking off, choosing kindness over strictness. However, when it comes to discipline and manners, she can be unexpectedly firm; tears and excuses do not sway her, and her calm demeanor sometimes gives way to a formidable temper. This duality makes her both a comforting presence and a figure of authority. She is also notably strong for a woman, a trait that occasionally surprises those around her.

Castella’s primary motivation is to fulfill her role as a tutor and mentor, guiding Anmitsu not only in academic subjects such as English and American culture but also in broader life experiences, including games and playful activities. She is keenly interested in maintaining her own appearance; she frequently worries about her weight and is perpetually attempting various diets.

Her relationship with Anmitsu is the core of her role in the story. She serves as a confidante and guide, tolerating the princess’s tomboyish escapades while gently steering her toward maturity. Castella also interacts with other members of the castle staff, such as the chief retainer Abekawa Hikozaemon, with whom she sometimes clashes due to her unconventional teaching methods. Over the course of the series, she remains a steady support for Anmitsu, adapting her approach to the princess’s growth without undergoing a dramatic personal transformation herself.

Among her notable abilities, Castella is multilingual and well‑versed in foreign customs, able to teach subjects beyond the typical curriculum. Her physical strength is noteworthy, and she possesses a distinctive, unusual accent that sets her apart from the other characters. Overall, Madam Castella is a composed, stylish, and multifaceted educator who balances leniency with discipline, and her presence contributes significantly to Anmitsu’s adventures and development.
