Description
Naoya Kirihara wields potent psychic abilities—clairvoyance, telepathy, precognition, and healing—that exact a heavy toll. Physical contact often triggers traumatic visions, plunging him into catatonic states after severe episodes. This affliction fuels his withdrawn nature, though his elder brother Naoto Kirihara remains a singular refuge; Naoya experiences no pain through their contact and clings to him for emotional stability, a habit formed in childhood when he gripped Naoto’s jacket to navigate crowds.

Separated from their parents as children, the brothers endured 15 years in a research facility under Kyojiro Mikuriya. There, Naoya’s powers were suppressed and studied, deepening his reliance on Naoto. Interactions with staff like Hikita—who feigned friendship out of fear and greed—shattered his trust in anyone beyond his brother.

Over time, Naoya’s abilities transcend their initial form. He enters states where he perceives existence beyond physicality, witnessing events across time and space—echoing the experiences of Shouko Futami, another psychic unbound by reality. In these trances, he uncovers critical intelligence: his parents’ whereabouts, global crises, and the hidden truth of World War III masking psychics’ exodus to a parallel Earth. Naoto fears losing him to this disembodied existence, but Naoya vows to remain anchored to his brother.

By 2041, they awaken in a dystopian Japan where psychics face violent suppression by the Special Weapons Enforcement unit. Naoya consistently shields vulnerable individuals despite personal risk, using his powers to evade the pursuing Kuroki brothers—Takuya and Yuya. His visions hint at shared histories of governmental persecution between the two sets of siblings. He witnesses apocalyptic global destruction and confirms psychics’ mass migration to another Earth.

When SWE takes Naoya hostage to control Naoto, his vulnerability surfaces despite his gifts. His healing ability emerges in critical moments, reviving figures like Tomomi. Ultimately, Naoya’s visions reveal their role in a temporal paradox: the brothers exist in a stable time loop, having appeared during the SWE raid that devastated the Kuroki family. In the finale, Naoya shifts from dependence to partnership, joining Naoto’s decision to return to their original timeline and avert catastrophe.
