TV-Series
Description
Hiromi Izawa is a male teenage student and a prominent member of the ping-pong club at Inachu Middle School. He is easily recognized by his shoulder-length black hair, which he styles in imitation of the boxing manga hero Joe Yabuki from Ashita no Joe, and he is the only character in the series who has freckles. His distinctive hairstyle is frequently the target of jokes throughout the story.

In terms of personality, Izawa is described as a kind and caring individual, though he also has a notably perverted side that emerges regularly. He holds a strong personal code and strives to live his life by the laws of chivalry. His passion for boxing is a significant aspect of his identity, directly influencing his chosen haircut.

Within the narrative of the ping-pong club, Izawa’s most defining relationships are with his teammates, particularly his close friend Maeno. The two share an unusual and intense bond, often engaging in elaborate make-believe games. In these scenarios, Izawa almost invariably takes on the role of a female character, whether acting as a mother, a child, or a love interest. This dynamic points to a complex, debatable relationship that goes beyond simple friendship. Izawa shows a marked adversity to Maeno forming romantic relationships with girls, to the point of cross-dressing as a woman to sabotage a potential girlfriend for his friend.

Izawa’s role in the story is driven by these personal motivations, including his dedication to his odd sense of chivalry and his complicated attachment to Maeno. Beyond his involvement in the club’s various misadventures, one notable episode involves him being approached by a shy girl named Chiyoko Kamiya, who asks him to be her ping-pong coach to impress another boy. In this position of authority, Izawa proves unable to resist abusing his power, indulging his fondest dream of having a beautiful girl obey his every command. His abilities are not athletic but lie in his active participation in the club’s chaotic social dynamics and the peculiar role-playing games he initiates with Maeno.
