Description
Challe Fen Challe is a warrior fairy formed from solidified obsidian's energy, awakened by the gaze of five-year-old Elizabeth. He developed a years-long sibling bond with her, calling her "Liz." Her murder by humans became the core reason for his deep distrust and resentment of them. After her death, he killed three fairy hunters during his capture, resulting in the removal of his right wing to enforce enslavement. He endured seventy years of slavery, frequently labeled "defective" due to his open hostility and insults towards humans. Extensive travel along the perilous Bloody Highway gave him significant knowledge of its dangers.

He possesses fair skin, long black hair, and black eyes with vertical slit pupils. His exceptional beauty often leads to being mistaken for a companion fairy. His wings feature intricate, sparkling patterns; one remains functional while the detached right wing is stored in a small leather pouch. He typically wears a long gray coat and wields swords formed from his innate ability to manifest obsidian blades, a power stemming directly from his origins, complemented by expert swordsmanship.

Initially interacting with Ann Halford, who purchased him as a bodyguard, with open contempt, he frequently insulted her as a "scarecrow" and challenged her authority. He emphasized their master-slave dynamic by refusing to act without explicit, forceful orders and stated friendship was impossible while she held his wing, aiming to make her uncomfortable with owning him. Despite this, he gradually began protecting her beyond the requirements of his enslavement, indicating early shifts in his demeanor.

A pivotal moment occurred when Ann voluntarily returned his wing, fulfilling her initial promise, significantly altering their relationship and leading him to stay willingly. His protective instincts intensified, confronting Jonas Anders after he sabotaged Ann's work and threatening those who endangered her. He later sacrificed his regained freedom to Bridget Paige, exchanging his wing for her help recovering Ann's stolen silver sugar confection, a selfless act demonstrating deepening loyalty that temporarily returned him to enslavement.

Further background reveals his origin as one of three fairy candidates for the throne, born alongside Raphal Fen Raphal (opal) and Eril Fen Eril (diamond) from stones in the late fairy king’s sword. This lineage remained unknown until encountering Lafalle Fen Lafall, an older fairy brother figure. Subsequent conflicts involved battles with Raphal, resulting in mutual memory loss and disappearance. After independently recovering his memories, he sought reunion with Ann. Their relationship evolved into mutual romantic love, culminating in declarations, repeated kisses, and eventual marriage. Post-marriage narratives confirm their continued life together.

Throughout his development, he transitioned from a bitter, isolated figure into one capable of trust and emotional connection, particularly with Ann. Core traits—sarcasm, stoicism, and fierce protectiveness—persisted even as his motivations shifted from obligation to personal devotion. His journey resolves with permanent residence alongside Ann, symbolizing reconciliation between his warrior identity and capacity for sustained loyalty beyond enslavement.
