Description
Patti, also written Patty, is the central character of the anime Maple Town Stories. She is a young anthropomorphic rabbit girl, nine years old, and the second-oldest child of the Rabbit family, which includes her parents, her older sister Ann, and younger siblings including a brother named Mick and a sister named Cosette. When her family arrives in Maple Town to settle there as mail carriers, Patti quickly becomes part of the town's daily life and the heart of its adventures.
In terms of personality, Patti is lively, innocent, and endlessly curious. She has trouble staying still and is drawn to play and exploration rather than quiet, careful tasks; reading and detailed work do not come naturally to her. At the same time, she is kind, warm-hearted, and quick to care about the people around her, and she approaches problems with a hopeful and cheerful outlook. Because she is brave for her age, she does not hesitate to act when something is wrong.
Patti's role in the story begins with an act of courage. During her family's journey to Maple Town, the thief Wilde Wolf steals her father's mailbag in a train heist and escapes into the forest, and Patti follows him to get it back. There she meets Bobby, a bear boy her own age who has recovered the bag, and together they outwit Wilde Wolf and return the mail safely. This early event establishes her as someone who takes responsibility and refuses to stand by when others are harmed. Across the series, she and Bobby work to foil Wilde Wolf's schemes, and her adventures with him form the main thread of the story.
Her relationship with Bobby is the most important in the series. What begins as an accidental meeting grows into a close friendship built on trust and shared experience, and the two support each other through their troubles. Her family is also central to her life, and her desire to help her father and protect her loved ones motivates much of what she does. The thief Wilde Wolf serves as her recurring opponent, and her interactions with him show her persistence and cleverness, as she repeatedly finds ways to outsmart him despite his tricks.
Over the course of the series, Patti develops from a carefree child into a more responsible and dependable member of her community while keeping the innocent enthusiasm that defines her. In the sequel series set in Palm Town, she continues to be the protagonist, carrying forward the same bright and compassionate spirit in a new environment. Her notable qualities are not supernatural powers but her courage, resourcefulness, and determination; she relies on quick thinking, athletic energy, and the help of her friends to overcome the obstacles she faces.
