Description
Meg is the protagonist of the anime Majokko Megu-chan. She is a young witch from the Witch World who is sent to Earth as part of her training to become the next witch queen. Upon arriving in the human realm in her early teens, she is adopted by Mammi Kanzaki, a former witch who gave up her royal ambitions to marry a human. Mammi uses magic to make her husband and their two biological children, Rabi and Apo, believe that Meg has always been the eldest child of the family.

Meg’s personality is initially headstrong and impulsive. She is a tomboy compared to earlier magical girl protagonists, often engaging in physical fights with the school bully and squabbling with her younger siblings. She is accident-prone and has difficulty adapting to ordinary human life, especially family relationships and social norms. Her motivations center on proving herself worthy of the witch queen’s throne by learning to control her magical abilities and her temper under Mammi’s guidance.

As the story progresses, Meg undergoes significant personal growth. She experiences emotions she had never known in the Witch World, such as loneliness, compassion, grief, love, desperation, and self-sacrifice. Through everyday trials and confrontations with monsters, demons, and rival sorcerers—including her main rival, Non—she realizes that her true challenges are the darker aspects of human nature. Over the course of the series, she evolves from a willful and somewhat selfish girl into a kind, generous, and loving young woman.

Key relationships include her foster mother Mammi, who acts as both a mentor and a maternal figure; her younger siblings Rabi and Apo, who often play tricks on her but whom she eventually comes to care for; and her nemesis Non, a fellow witch candidate who competes with her. Meg also develops feelings for a new boy at school and experiences heartbreak when he returns to his home country.

Notable abilities include her inherent magical powers, which she must learn to use responsibly. She frequently casts spells but is prone to accidents and mishaps due to her lack of discipline. Her growth is measured by her increasing control over her magic and her emerging understanding of human emotions.
