TV-Series
Description
Ana is the adoptive mother of Bia, the main protagonist in the Portuguese and Italian dubs of the anime Majokko Megu-chan. In the original Japanese version, she is known as Mami Kanzaki. Ana is a former witch from the magical realm who once harbored ambitions of becoming its queen. However, she chose to relinquish her powers and royal aspirations in order to marry a mortal man and build a life on Earth. She settled down with her human husband and had two biological children, Rabi and Apo. When Bia, a young witch candidate for the throne, arrives on Earth to learn about human life and prove herself worthy of the crown, Ana takes her in. To integrate Bia seamlessly into the household, Ana uses magic to alter the memories of her husband and children, making them believe Bia has always been the eldest daughter of the family.

Ana’s personality is defined by her maternal warmth, maturity, and wisdom. Having personally gone through the same trial on Earth that Bia now faces, Ana understands the challenges and emotional complexities that come with it. She is patient and nurturing, offering Bia both a safe home and invaluable guidance. While she remains supportive, she also sets boundaries and teaches discipline, helping Bia learn to control her impulsive nature and magical abilities. Ana’s own past as a former candidate for the throne gives her unique insight into the pressures Bia experiences, and she serves as a steady, reassuring presence throughout the girl’s journey.

Ana’s primary motivation is to help Bia succeed in her training and mature into a person worthy of ruling the magical kingdom. She also deeply values her human family and the peaceful life she has built, and she works to protect that harmony. In terms of her role in the story, Ana acts as Bia’s adoptive mother and primary mentor. She provides the structure and maternal care that allow Bia to grow emotionally, while also using her magical expertise to guide Bia’s development. Without Ana’s intervention, Bia would not have a foothold in the human world, and much of the series’ focus on family dynamics and personal growth stems from this relationship.

Ana’s key relationships include her bond with Bia, which forms the emotional core of her role in the series. She also maintains a loving relationship with her husband and her biological children, Rabi and Apo, though these relationships are artificially maintained by her memory-altering magic. In a broader sense, she has ties to the magical realm through her past and through her ongoing involvement with Bia’s training.

As for development, Ana’s character is largely static; she has already made her life-defining choice before the series begins. However, her steady guidance is instrumental in Bia’s growth, and through her interactions with her adopted daughter, the audience sees the quiet strength and resolve of a woman who once chose love and humanity over power. Ana’s notable abilities include her retained magical knowledge and skill. Even after choosing to live as a mortal, she can still cast spells, most prominently the enchantment that alters her family’s memories. She also uses her expertise to teach Bia how to wield her own magic responsibly and how to navigate the complexities of human emotions and relationships.
