Description
Nagisa Yukiai is the central protagonist of the anime film, a high school girl living in the seaside town of Hinosaka. She is characterized by an impulsive and kind-hearted nature, yet she carries a sense of impatience because she has not yet discovered a clear future calling for herself. From a young age, her grandmother taught her about the concept of kotodama, the belief that spirits dwell within words and that spoken words have a tangible effect on reality. Nagisa fully embraces this idea and is even able to see kotodama as visible, colored wisps that appear when strong emotions are vocalized.
Her motivation is driven by a sincere desire to connect with others and to prove that genuine words can reach people’s hearts and create positive change. This leads her to wander into an abandoned mini FM station one day, where she impulsively begins mimicking a radio DJ. To her surprise, her voice is actually broadcast and reaches Shion Yazawa, the daughter of the station’s former operator. Nagisa’s encounter with Shion sparks her determination to revive the Aquamarine radio station as a way to comfort Shion and possibly awaken Shion’s mother, who has been in a coma for years.
