Description
Date Masamune is a prominent warlord and a romanceable character set in the Sengoku period. He is known as the One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu, a title earned through his fearsome reputation and his distinctive black armor and golden headgear. He became the head of the Date clan at the age of seventeen, succeeding his father who chose to retire, a decision that created tension with his mother who favored his younger brother for the position. He lost his right eye in childhood due to smallpox.
Masamune possesses a bold and free-spirited personality, marked by a natural curiosity and a stubborn, troublesome nature. He is a thrill-seeker at heart, finding equal joy in a good battle and in any opportunity for excitement, never hesitating to leap into trouble. Despite his reckless tendencies, he holds a deep-seated belief in living a life worthy of the title of military commander, which drives his strong sense of duty toward his subordinates. He cares for his men deeply, even going so far as to cook for them on the battlefield, where he is known to be an excellent cook.
His motivations are rooted in this philosophy of living fully and honorably, seeking to experience life to its utmost while protecting those under his command. In the story, when the main character decides she wants to remain in the Sengoku period, Masamune accompanies her on a journey to see off a friend who is returning to the future. During this trip, a fire breaks out at a temple. In an act of selfless protection, Masamune throws the main character to safety, but is struck by falling debris and becomes trapped inside the burning building.
Masamune has several notable relationships with other characters. He is often teased by Mitsuhide, who likes to switch his water with sake, taking advantage of Masamune's very low resistance to alcohol. He also has a pet tiger cub named Shogetsu.
Throughout his route, he demonstrates significant development as his bonds with the main character deepen, particularly in his willingness to sacrifice himself for her safety. Among his notable abilities, aside from his prowess in battle where he wields two swords named Bizen-Mitsutada and Okurikara-Hiromitsu, his skill as a chef is highlighted. While he typically fights with his right hand, it is revealed that he is actually left-handed.
