Description
Akechi Mitsuhide is a central character in the visual novel, recognizable by his distinctive appearance. He has white hair that can appear grey in shadow and sharp, piercing golden eyes. His typical attire is a uniform featuring shades of blue, teal, gold, and white, and he is often seen wearing a smile that is described as thin and sharp. His birthday is on October 4.

Within the Oda forces, Mitsuhide serves as Nobunaga’s right-hand man and operates as a spy master, gathering information and handling tasks that require a subtle, often unseen approach. This role has earned him a reputation for being extremely suspicious, untrustworthy, and even malicious. Other warlords and the main character frequently compare him to a snake, and rumors circulate that he puts women through "hell itself". However, this menacing exterior is largely a facade. In truth, Mitsuhide is completely loyal to Nobunaga and genuinely cares for the other warlords and the heroine, though he expresses this in an eccentric and deeply hidden manner. He takes great pleasure in teasing those around him, including the heroine, who he sometimes affectionately calls his "little mouse," using his sharp wit to provoke reactions. He often hides his true feelings behind a wall of playful lies, making it difficult to discern his real intentions from his jokes.

Mitsuhide is highly intelligent and exceptionally skilled at reading people's facial expressions and body language, an ability so refined that others often mistakenly believe he can read minds. This skill makes him an unparalleled spy and strategist. In combat, he is a master marksman, particularly with the tanegashima matchlock rifle, and it is said he can fire a hundred shots without missing. He is also a capable swordsman, though his true strengths lie in his intellect and his underhanded methods. A notable and peculiar trait is his lack of a sense of taste, which leads him to mix all kinds of food into a single bowl without any regard for flavor. This condition stems from a traumatic period in his youth when he nearly starved to death and was forced to eat unthinkable things to survive.

His primary motivation is a deep-seated desire for peace in Japan. He is driven by a fear that the endless civil war will make the country vulnerable to conquest by foreign powers. A pivotal event that shaped him was the Siege of Mount Hiei, where he regrets not being able to save more innocent women and children, an incident that also cemented Nobunaga's fearsome reputation. In the story, despite being the historical figure known for betraying Nobunaga at Honnō-ji, he is a loyal ally. He often works from the shadows to assist the heroine regardless of which warlord's path she follows, though he is a primary love rival in Hideyoshi's route.

Key relationships define his interactions. With Hideyoshi, he has a constant, teasing rivalry, but he admits to doing the "dirty work" to allow men like Hideyoshi and Nobunaga to remain in the light. With Masamune, he shares a genuine friendship, and they are often found spending time together, with Mitsuhide playing pranks like secretly replacing Masamune's water with sake. Despite his teasing nature, he is also known to patiently offer advice to his fellow Oda retainers when they seek it. Throughout the narrative, Mitsuhide undergoes subtle development, gradually allowing his guarded, loyal, and caring nature to show more openly, especially towards the heroine, whom he protects while trying to maintain his mysterious and dangerous persona. He has a particular soft spot for children and is more honest and gentle with them than with adults. He is also associated with a white fox named Chimaki, who serves as his mascot.
