Description
Eigo Sawatari is a second-year student in the musical department at Ayanagi Academy, where he serves as the strategist for Team Hiiragi. Born on November 28, he stands at 170 centimeters tall and has a blood type of B. He has dark brown hair with bangs parted from the center and light brownish-yellow eyes, and he typically wears his school uniform in a neat, proper manner.

Sawatari's background is closely intertwined with that of his teammate, Rui Tatsumi. They have been childhood friends since infancy, a connection rooted in their families' history, as the Sawatari family has served the Tatsumi family for generations. Because of this relationship, Sawatari's grandparents are particularly deferential toward Tatsumi. His early plans were to join the instrumental music department, but he changed his path to the vocal course and then to musicals to support Tatsumi, who had chosen that direction in middle school. During their middle school years, Tatsumi was given the nickname princess, which led to Sawatari being called the knight.

In terms of personality, Sawatari is defined by his sharp analytical mind and logical approach to both musicals and life in general. He learns and perfects musical performances through analysis rather than relying on raw emotion or intuition. He is serious, responsible, and follows rules strictly, to the point that he cannot forgive those who skip cleaning duties. He is highly observant and confident in his ability to analyze situations and people. He often describes his own lack of a sense of humor as a personal shortcoming. While intelligent and capable of earning excellent grades with efficient studying, he is reportedly not skilled at teaching others. He has poor eyesight and wears contact lenses to correct it, and he admits to being somewhat clumsy with physical tasks, though he can compensate with strategy.

Sawatari's primary motivation stems from his dedication to supporting Rui Tatsumi, whom he believes is worthy of being a king. This desire to be of service shaped his entire educational and career path. Beyond this personal commitment, he is driven by a general curiosity to gain experience in many different areas. He enjoys going out on his days off to try activities he has never done before, such as blueberry picking, simply to broaden his horizons. He also has an interest in traditional Japanese arts and has expressed a desire to discuss them with Tengenji from Team Otori.

Within the story, Sawatari acts as the brains of Team Hiiragi, fulfilling a key staff or strategist position. Along with Nanjou, he serves as the class chairperson for the second-year musical students, a role that reflects the high level of trust his peers place in him. He first appeared alongside other members of Team Hiiragi and was present for their performance of Ayanagi Showtime at the rookie performance, where he positively evaluated Team Otori's presentation as an interesting way of doing things.

The most significant relationship in Sawatari's life is with Rui Tatsumi. They are not only childhood friends but also classmates, roommates in the dormitory, and teammates, and they frequently exchange quiet remarks with one another. Sawatari habitually takes care of Tatsumi, a habit formed from caring for him when he was frail and sick as a child. He also knows Tooru Nayuki and Kaito Tsukigami from middle school. His ability to get along with members of both Team Hiiragi and Team Otori is noted, and he once treated Hoshitani and Nayuki to a meal using his own allowance.

Sawatari's development sees him taking on greater responsibilities, such as becoming class chairperson in his second year, which solidifies his role as a reliable and trusted figure beyond just his own team. His character consistently emphasizes that his loyalty and analytical skills are his greatest assets, allowing him to cross team boundaries and function effectively as part of a larger company.

His notable abilities are firmly rooted in his intellect. He excels at observation and analysis, which he applies to musical performance, academic subjects like music and history, and even daily problem-solving. He learned to play the violin and piano from a young age and has studied vocal music. He handles stress not emotionally but by logically organizing his thoughts, identifying the cause of the stress, and planning countermeasures. He prefers quiet, natural places and enjoys the sound of rain, which allows him to think clearly, and he has a particular fondness for vegetables.
