Description
Yuuichi Tachibana owns and operates the gas station employing Takumi Fujiwara, Itsuki Takeuchi, and Koichiro Iketani. He shares a decades-long friendship with Bunta Fujiwara, forged during their youth in street racing circles where Yuuichi acknowledges Bunta's superior driving skills overshadowed his own modest racing abilities.

Despite his unremarkable past behind the wheel, Yuuichi possesses sharp insights into racing dynamics and recognizes emerging talent. He mentors the younger generation, particularly Akina SpeedStars members, functioning as a father figure who accommodates their racing pursuits through flexible work schedules.

Approachable and supportive, Yuuichi engages with his employees' personal lives, encouraging Iketani's romantic interest in Mako Sato and advising Kenji and Itsuki on relationships. His personal hobbies include following golf via magazines and television broadcasts.

He drives a 1994 Toyota Camry (V40), prominently featured when Takumi overtakes him during a Mount Akina downhill run in *First Stage*'s debut episode. Though one source notes a Toyota Chaser during Takumi's races, the Camry remains consistently identified as his primary vehicle.

Yuuichi appears throughout the franchise in *First Stage*, *Second Stage*, *Extra Stage*, *Third Stage*, *Fourth Stage*, *Extra Stage 2*, and *Final Stage*, skipping only *Fifth Stage*. His role persists as a stabilizing influence, dispensing practical life guidance and racing wisdom without undergoing significant personal evolution.

In the live-action adaptation, Kenny Bee portrays Yuuichi, retaining core traits: gas station ownership, friendship with Bunta, and mentorship of younger characters. The special *Initial D to the Next Stage ~The Way to Project D~* offers recap and production insights for *Fourth Stage* but contributes no new narrative or character development for Yuuichi.
