TV-Series
Description
Princess, whose formal name is Royal Penguin, is a penguin Friend in the Kemono Friends anime who appears as a major supporting character and is also present in related manga and games. Her stage name within the idol world is Princess, and she is a member of P.P.P., an idol group made up of penguin Friends. Within the group she serves as the organizer and unofficial leader, handling the direction and coordination of the unit behind the scenes. Another character, Margay, describes her as the pillar of the group.

In terms of background, Princess is based on the royal penguin, a species associated with the cold waters around Antarctica and known for the yellow plumes of feathers on the head and a comparatively large body. Reflecting this, her design combines white and black coloring with yellow and orange feather-like accents, flipper-like sleeves, and a long dark tail. During the anime, P.P.P. introduces itself before a performance in the Waterfront area, with Princess as the first member to give her name and nickname, and she later criticizes the group for being sloppy in their presentation.

Her personality is defined by confidence and ambition. Princess firmly believes P.P.P. can become something great, and she shows this by pointing out the group's mistakes directly and by devoting herself to practicing routines. At the same time, she believes being an idol should be fun, and she encourages the other members to relax and enjoy themselves while still improving their technique. She presents herself as an eager student of performance and is earnest about her responsibilities.

Her main motivation is the success and growth of P.P.P., along with a desire to bring happiness to others through her work. This driving attitude appears in her dedication to rehearsal and her insistence on quality, balanced against her wish for the group to genuinely enjoy performing. In the anime, her role centers on guiding the idol unit toward a successful public performance, acting as its driving force and its most exacting member.

Her key relationships are with her fellow members of P.P.P.: Emperor Penguin, Rockhopper Penguin, Gentoo Penguin, and Humboldt Penguin. Princess is the member who keeps the group organized and focused, and much of her story involvement comes from working with, correcting, and encouraging these four companions. She is also respected by Margay, who recognizes her importance to the group's identity and morale.

Over the course of the story, Princess learns to combine her strict standards with her belief that performing should be joyful. She helps the other group members loosen up without lowering their standards, and the unit becomes more polished and confident as a result. Later game material echoes this growth through her reflections that both her less experienced past self and her current self are equally valuable.

In terms of abilities, Princess is a capable singer and performer with a confident stage presence. Her penguin traits, including flipper-like arms and a body suited to cold aquatic environments, connect her to the natural behavior of her species. In the video games, her skills are primarily supportive: she can restore the health of allies, strengthen other idol characters, and activate combination effects that grow more powerful when she performs alongside the other penguin members of P.P.P. In the story, her main contributions are her leadership, her dedication to practice, and her ability to keep the group working toward its goal.
