Description
Emperor Penguin, often referred to simply as Emperor, is a Friend who appears as a central member of the idol unit PPP. She holds the official title of the group's leader, a role that carries significant weight for her and shapes much of her character.

Emperor Penguin has a distinctive appearance that reflects both her role as an idol and her animal origins. She has medium-length black hair accented by a prominent orange streak, which is meant to evoke the beak of a real emperor penguin. Like all members of PPP, she wears a pair of headphones, though her pair follows a black and orange color scheme to match her hair. Her outfit consists of an open black jacket with orange shoulders over a white leotard. Her sleeves end in glove-like coverings over her hands, emulating the flippers of a penguin. One of her most defining physical traits is her tall stature, which is a nod to the emperor penguin being the largest of all penguin species.

Emperor Penguins personality is defined by a significant contrast between her official position and her personal disposition. While she is the leader of PPP on paper, she is an extremely nervous individual who is prone to immense performance anxiety. The pressure of living up to the legacy of the first-generation Penguin Idol Project leader, who came before her, weighs heavily on her mind. In moments of extreme tension or stress, this anxiety manifests in a very particular way: she will freeze up entirely, entering a comatose or "frozen" state akin to a system crash. When this happens, her eyes sometimes appear to become blank white, and she loses consciousness until the overwhelming pressure subsides.

The character's motivations are deeply tied to a sense of responsibility and a fear of failure. She did not choose to be the leader but was scouted and placed in that position. She worries that her own stiff movements and cautious nature do not match the powerful, confident image a leader should project. At one point, she even suggests that another member, Princess, should take over the role because she doubts her own capabilities. Despite these personal insecurities, she genuinely wants to succeed for the sake of the group. Her motivation is not driven by ego or ambition, but by a desire to not let her fellow PPP members down and to honor the legacy of the idol unit she represents.

Within the story, Emperor Penguins primary role is as the titular leader of PPP during their formation and debut concert. Her character arc in this narrative focuses on overcoming her crippling stage fright. She spends much of the rehearsal period succumbing to pressure and freezing up. However, with the encouragement of her fellow group members and their manager, Margay, she is able to find a way to manage her nerves. When the time comes for their major debut performance, she successfully rises to the occasion. She finally shows the strength and poise expected of a leader, delivering a successful performance and proving to herself and the audience that she can fulfill her duties.

Her key relationships are primarily with the other members of PPP, especially Princess. While Emperor is the official leader, Princess is often the one who provides the practical guidance and direction during rehearsals, acting as the group's driving force. Despite the potential for tension, their relationship is supportive; Princess believes in Emperor Penguin and reassures her that she will become a strong and confident leader. The other members look to her, and their faith in her is a crucial factor in helping her find her own strength.

In terms of notable abilities, Emperor Penguins skills are a direct reflection of her animal species. As the largest penguin, she possesses great physical endurance. She has mentioned undergoing extreme hardships, such as walking for two hundred kilometers and fasting for over a hundred days, which are direct references to the real-world emperor penguin's breeding cycle. This association has led other characters to comment that she seems to enjoy difficult struggles. Furthermore, real emperor penguins are the deepest diving of all birds, capable of reaching depths of over 500 meters and holding their breath for more than twenty minutes. This immense diving ability is implied to be carried over into her character. Additionally, while she struggles under pressure, her earlier characterizations show her to be responsible and dedicated, often putting the group's goals above her own feelings.
