Description
Dog Hammer is a notable supporting character from the second season of the anime, Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond. His existence is intrinsically linked to his partner, Deldro Brody, as the two form a unique and inseparable pair. Their unusual situation is the result of a traumatic past, having been victims of cruel experimentation by a villainous woman named Aligura, the Queen of Monomania. Aligura transformed Deldro into nothing but blood and replaced Dog Hammer's original blood with this living essence, making the two of them a single, symbiotic entity. At the start of the story, Dog Hammer is being held in some form of custody or imprisonment, though he is shown to be on speaking terms with members of Libra, the secret organization that protects the city. He is eventually granted leave from his confinement, sometimes for specific outings, such as to view art exhibits, as he has a fondness for cubism.

In terms of personality, Dog Hammer is portrayed as a calm and reserved individual, particularly when contrasted with the more boisterous Deldro Brody. He carries himself with a quiet demeanor, which stands in stark contrast to the volatile and powerful nature of the blood that flows within him. Despite their unusual and forced partnership, Dog and Deldro have developed a strong, functional, and even familial bond built on mutual reliance. Their cooperation is essential for combat, as they fight in perfect sync. He is known to be cooperative with Libra, assisting them in dangerous situations without significant protest, suggesting a level of trust or a shared sense of duty. His primary motivation appears to be maintaining his existence alongside Deldro and preventing Aligura from recapturing them to resume her horrific experiments. This shared trauma is the driving force behind their actions and their willingness to fight.

Dog Hammer's role in the story is primarily that of a powerful ally to Libra. He and Deldro are called upon when situations escalate beyond normal capabilities, serving as heavy hitters capable of immense destruction. In one instance, they are instrumental in a mission to stop a rampaging monster truck created by Aligura, delivering the decisive blow that destroys it. In another, they assist Libra operatives by securing the front half of a crashed aircraft containing a powerful enemy, allowing Klaus Von Reinherz and the others to finish the job. While not a formal member of the organization, his relationship with characters like Klaus and Blitz T. Abrams is one of mutual respect and cooperation, with them acting as his handlers or contacts in the outside world.

The most significant relationship in Dog Hammer's life is, of course, with Deldro Brody. They are literally bound together, with Deldro existing as the blood in Dog's veins. In combat, Dog can partially manifest Deldro's form, often encasing his own body or his arm in a massive, muscular construct of blood to deliver devastatingly powerful punches. Their development as characters revolves around their acceptance of their fused state and their reliance on each other. They have moved past being simply victims and have become a formidable and effective team, treating each other like brothers. This is highlighted in combat, where Dog Hammer can make the tactical decision to have Deldro consolidate his entire being into a single point, like a fist, a move that leaves Dog's own body exposed but allows for maximum destructive power. This tactic requires absolute trust, and it is a testament to their developed bond that Deldro agrees to it despite his reservations.

Dog Hammer's most notable ability is his symbiotic partnership with Deldro Brody. By summoning Deldro's blood to the surface and shaping it, Dog can create enormous, powerful limbs to strike with incredible force. This power is potent enough to stop and destroy a massive, reinforced "monster truck" that had been tearing through the city with impunity. Their combined attack is shown to be one of the most physically destructive forces in the series up to that point. Beyond his combat prowess, Dog Hammer also has a more intellectual side, possessing an appreciation for art, specifically cubism, which adds an unexpected layer to his character.
