Description
Celenike Icecolle Yggdmillennia is a female magus belonging to the Yggdmillennia clan, a faction of mages that serves as one of the primary forces in the conflict. She is twenty-six years old and possesses what is described as a clever and beautiful appearance, often depicted with glasses. Despite her refined and intelligent looks, she carries a pervasive aura of blood and death, a consequence of her lifelong dedication to dark arts. Her physical measurements are recorded as 168 cm in height and 53 kg in weight.
Celenike comes from the Icecolle family, an ancient bloodline of dark arts practitioners. This family was forced to flee from Western Europe to Siberia during the witch hunts of the Middle Ages, an event that caused them to lose the foundation of their magecraft and led to their gradual decline. Celenike was the first talented child born into this decaying bloodline in a long time. As a result, she was adored by the elderly female mages of her family, who dedicated their lives to perfecting the dark arts and poured all their teachings into her. The dark arts require a specific disposition from their practitioner: the coldness to not hesitate in dissecting sacrifices and the iron willpower to suppress the pleasure of killing to perform the rituals correctly. Celenike was raised to be a perfect dark magus, capable of offering a continuous stream of human and animal sacrifices without losing herself in the ecstasy of slaughter.
However, this upbringing had a profound effect on her personality. While she possesses a calm and collected side, such as never underestimating other magecraft users, she is fundamentally a sadistic and cruel individual. Because she was never taught normal affection and was constantly told to suppress her emotions for her craft, she has almost no self-control in her personal life. The sadistic urges she restrains during rituals are instead transformed into unrestrained lust and cruelty towards her lovers. Her relationships are extremely violent and bizarre, involving acts such as binding her partners and cutting their flesh. Furthermore, she is a pederast, with a particular fondness for beautiful boys who have pure eyes, whom she takes pleasure in tormenting.
Celenike's primary motivation in the Great Holy Grail War is not the clan's ambition but the fulfillment of her own twisted desires. She acts as the Master of Rider of Black, Astolfo, whom she summoned using a glass bottle stained with a mysterious liquid as a catalyst. She is immediately captivated by Astolfo, whose beautiful appearance and pure demeanor perfectly match her tastes. Her "love" for him is an obsessive, possessive, and abusive fixation. She spends much of her time forcing him to endure what can only be described as sadomasochistic abuse, including licking his body and twisting him in ropes, acts to which Astolfo appears more bored and exasperated than truly pained. For a time, her rational mind as a magus and the absolute physical difference between a human and a Servant keep her worst impulses in check.
Celenike's role in the story becomes increasingly antagonistic as it progresses. While she is officially allied with the black faction, her actions are always driven by her own selfish whims. She despises the homunculus Sieg, viewing him as nothing more than a nuisance or a pest to be eradicated. Her hatred for Sieg grows into an all-consuming jealousy when her beloved Rider begins to show care and loyalty to the homunculus instead of to her. This jealousy completely overrides any loyalty she has to her clan or any interest in winning the Holy Grail. In the final stages of the battle, her madness reaches its peak. She confronts Rider and Sieg, and in a fit of vengeful fury, she uses her Command Spells to force Astolfo to murder Sieg, intending to savor both the homunculus's death and her Servant's despair.
The key relationship in her life is with her Servant, Astolfo. This dynamic is entirely one-sided and dysfunctional, defined by her sadistic obsession and his growing rejection of her. Her other important relationship is with her homunculus, Sieg, whom she views as a hated rival for stealing Astolfo's affection. Her final moments come just as she is about to use another Command Spell to force Astolfo to obey. Overcome with twisted joy at the prospect of tormenting her Servant, she is completely oblivious to her surroundings and is decapitated from behind by Saber of Red, Mordred, who kills her casually, either out of disdain or as she passes by on her way to the battlefield.
As a magus, Celenike is highly skilled and specializes in curses and torture. She is an expert in dark arts that involve using the entrails of beasts and humans for sacrificial rituals. She possesses a wide array of magical tools and spells designed for killing and inflicting pain, including a wooden whip named Kane and a nail that causes the sensation of one's nerves being torn apart by a saw. Her vindictiveness is a notable trait; once she sets her sights on a target, she will pursue them relentlessly, no matter where they hide. She is also unusually knowledgeable about modern technology for a magus, even experimenting with using the electronic network, such as computers, as a medium to deliver fatal curses. Celenike serves as an example of a magus whose training became distorted, leading her to prioritize her personal sadistic desires over everything else, ultimately resulting in her tragic and abrupt end.
