Description
Assassin Negra is the Servant of the Black faction in the Great Holy Grail War of Fate/Apocrypha. Her true identity is Jack the Ripper, the infamous serial killer from Victorian London, but this version of Jack is not the historical figure. Instead, she is an aggregation of the怨念 of the countless unborn children who were aborted by prostitutes in the Whitechapel district of London and left to die in the gutters. As a result, she is not a true Heroic Spirit in the conventional sense but a powerful wraith born from the prayers and resentment of these lost souls who never got to experience life. She appears as a small, pale girl with greyish hair who wears a tattered cloak and carries a variety of bladed weapons, including butcher knives and blackened scalpels.

Her personality is a complex blend of childish innocence and profound cruelty. Because she is composed of the souls of unborn children, she thinks and acts like a young girl who is curious about the world. She speaks with a stilted, almost formal politeness and refers to her Master, Reika Rikudou, as Mother. However, this innocent exterior masks the nature of a monstrous being. She feels no empathy for her victims, viewing murder as a necessary and even comforting act to quell the constant, gnawing hunger for warmth that defines her existence. Her core motivation is to return to the womb, which she perceives as a dark, warm, and safe place. In the context of the Holy Grail War, this desire manifests as a wish to use the Holy Grail to return to the moment before her own birth, effectively wishing to never have been born at all. This paradoxical goal, combined with her need to constantly devour human souls to sustain herself, places her in direct opposition to the other Servants.

Assassin Negra is originally summoned by a magus named Hyouma Sagara, who intends to use her as a tool. However, when he attempts to sacrifice his companion, Reika Rikudou, as a catalyst, Reika’s powerful will to live resonates with the Servant. Assassin immediately recognizes Reika as her true master, betraying and mutilating Sagara before transferring his Command Spells to Reika. From that point forward, she and Reika operate as a rogue pair, loyal only to each other. Because Reika is a normal human with no magical potential, she cannot supply Assassin with magical energy. To compensate, Assassin must regularly kill humans and consume their spiritual cores, usually their hearts, to avoid disappearing. This leads the pair on a violent spree across Romania as they hunt for sustenance and a way to win the Grail. Her role in the story is primarily that of an antagonistic wild card, sowing chaos for both the Black and Red factions. She represents a purely selfish and monstrous use of the Holy Grail system, contrasting sharply with the more political or heroic goals of the other participants.

Her most significant relationship is with Reika Rikudou. Reika, a former prostitute who has been abused and discarded by society her entire life, finds no value in her own existence or the lives of others. When Assassin saves her and calls her Mother, Reika experiences love and purpose for the first time. Their bond is symbiotic and deeply twisted; Reika enables Assassin's murders, while Assassin provides Reika with a reason to live. Reika shows no hesitation in her actions, calmly strategizing their kills and even feeding her own former pimp to the Servant. In turn, Assassin is utterly devoted to Reika, seeing her as the warm, accepting mother she and her composite souls never had. This relationship serves as the primary source of development for both characters. While Assassin does not undergo a moral awakening, her interactions with Reika give her a fleeting sense of stability and humanity. Reika, despite her monstrous actions, develops a genuine, selfless love for Assassin, culminating in a moment where she uses her body to shield the Servant from a fatal attack.

In terms of abilities, Assassin Negra is a highly specialized killer who is relatively weak in a direct confrontation against other Servants. Her primary weapons are a set of surgical knives and scalpels that she can throw with great precision. Her true power lies in two Noble Phantasms. The first, The Mist, allows her to summon a dense, supernatural fog that covers a wide area. Within this mist, targets slowly suffocate, their internal organs are damaged, and their sense of direction is lost, making it a perfect environment for ambushes. Her second and most powerful Noble Phantasm is Maria the Ripper. This ability reenacts the Jack the Ripper murders and is a conceptual weapon that is most effective when three conditions are met: the target is female, it is nighttime, and there is mist or fog present. When these conditions are fulfilled, Maria the Ripper becomes a guaranteed instant-kill attack that disembowels the target, recreating the Ripper's legendary mutilations. If the conditions are not fully met, it is still a powerful attack but not an absolute death sentence. This combination of abilities makes her a terrifying threat to human magi and female Servants, but one that is forced to rely on stealth, strategy, and the element of surprise to overcome physically stronger enemies.
