Description
Julius Belkisk Harwey is the older half-brother of Leonardo B. Harwey and serves as the Master of Assassin in the Moon Holy Grail War. His existence is defined by a tragic and abusive past. Born as an illegitimate child and a Designer Baby, he was deemed a defective, powerless failure by the Harwey family even before birth. As a result, he was discarded and subjected to cruel experiments to measure his pain response, such as having a kidney removed without anesthesia, which confirmed his lack of ability in their eyes. His youth was stolen; his body was forcibly aged using various medicines to rapidly develop into an adult form, making him useful as an assassin. This process also caused him to age at twice the normal rate, giving him a predicted lifespan of only about twenty-five years.
His only source of genuine human warmth came from Alicia, Leo's biological mother, who showed him love and care. This brief period was the only time he could behave like a normal child. However, when Leo was three years old, Julius was ordered by his father to assassinate Alicia to secure Leo's inheritance and eliminate any perceived weakness. Despite his shock and horror, he carried out the act. Alicia's final request was for him to protect Leo, a plea that became the sole purpose of his existence. After this, people began to despise him as an evil spirit, and his hands were forever tainted.
Personality-wise, Julius is cold, mature, and methodical, carrying a dark and sinister aura. He operates entirely in the shadows as the dark counterpart to Leo's light, taking all villainous roles upon himself. His actions are not born from loyalty to the Harwey family, but from a desperate need to fulfill Alicia's last wish and to find meaning in his otherwise empty life. He admits he was empty from birth and that no one can live without love; Alicia was the only person who ever loved him, and after killing her, he was left in despair. He believed his only purpose was to protect Leo and then join her in death. He refers to his own father only as "Master," believing he has no right to call him father.
As a captain of the West Europe Plutocracy’s private counter-terrorism unit, Julius is a highly skilled and dangerous assassin in the real world. In the Moon Holy Grail War, he is a talented Spiritron hacker who uses these skills to eliminate obstacles to Leo's victory. He hacked the profile of Souichirou Kuzuki to enter the war and locked down the school's multimedia room for his own use. He is a Master, but not a Wizard, and is organically connected to the Harwey supercomputer. After his physical body is modified, there is no future for him on Earth, as he can never return alive. In combat, he has shown the ability to use Codecasts such as seal_guard() to seal an opponent's guard command and heal(64) to restore his Servant's health.
In the story of the Moon Holy Grail War, Julius first presents himself as a teacher. He is uniquely perceptive, recognizing the protagonist Hakuno Kishinami as the greatest threat to Leo's victory early on, even over more experienced Masters. He uses any means necessary to eliminate opponents, including attempted ambushes and direct attacks in the school. His Servant, Assassin, is compatible with him as both make a living by taking lives, though Julius is willing to forcibly alter his Servant into a Berserker-class if it suits his needs.
After being defeated, Julius resists deletion rather than disappearing quietly. This resistance marks a significant change in his personality, driving him partially insane and instilling a furious, superior attitude. He becomes a vengeful ghost or a Dead Face, motivated by a deep, incomprehensible drive to seek out the protagonist. He seeks death as a release from his misery and wishes to make Hakuno his last victim. He cannot accept being defeated by someone from the past and believes it is his duty to eliminate Hakuno so Leo can lead the world. He altered a section of the arena into a Reality Marble born of absolute hatred, a space designed to target a single individual for revenge. Within this space, he displayed frightening new abilities, including performing surgery through hacking to graft the arm of a Berserker's Master onto his own. Despite his insane rage, after his final defeat, a softer side briefly emerges before he disappears, finding some form of comfort in the protagonist's kindness after they learn of his past.
Notably, he is shown to be the one who makes a black, heavy, and sticky curry known as Harwey Curry, and he seems to possess an affinity for film, using a projector to spy on Coliseum battles and referencing poorly made films in his speech.
