Description
Daina Kurogami is a prominent supporting character from the Beyblade Burst God series, known internationally as Beyblade Burst Evolution. He is introduced as a highly skilled and intensely competitive blader who initially attends an unspecified school before becoming a key member of the Beigoma Academy BeyClub. Daina possesses a striking appearance that reflects his grim reaper-inspired beyblade, Deathscyther. He has pale skin, shadowed black eyes, and spiky black hair that is typically held up by a red bandana. His outfit consists of a black jacket adorned with purple stripes and red flame designs over an orange shirt, paired with black pants and boots. He also wears several skull-themed accessories, including a belt buckle, a necklace, and beaded chains attached to his bandana.

Daina's personality is marked by a cool, calm, and collected demeanor that can initially come across as cold and distant. He is a natural strategist with an exceptional ability to analyze battles, predict opponents' moves, and see hidden potential in other bladers without underestimating them. This sharp observational skill often positions him as a voice of reason among his peers, frequently acting as a peacekeeper and providing logical counsel to more hotheaded friends like Valt Aoi. Despite his edgy exterior, Daina reveals a much softer and friendlier side after joining the BeyClub, becoming more outgoing and expressive. He is deeply loyal, demonstrated when he remained with the BeyClub after other members left following the team tournament.

A significant aspect of Daina's character is his deep-seated insecurity about failing to live up to expectations. This internal struggle manifests as a dark illusion that taunts him with the fear of his friends abandoning him for being weak. This insecurity led to a pivotal crisis where he used an illegal move during a match against Yugo Nansui to secure a win. Overwhelmed by guilt, he quit both the BeyClub and beyblading altogether. However, through the support of his friends, particularly Shu Kurenai, he overcame his guilt, vowed never to cheat again, and returned to the sport with a more positive and principled attitude. This past experience makes him intolerant of dishonesty in others.

Throughout the series, Daina's role expands significantly. His passion for beyblading is so intense that it leads him to be scouted for the World League, where he becomes the leader of the French team, AS Gallus. His dedication and leadership skills inspire his previously defeated teammates to begin training again, successfully leading them to the semi-finals. He maintains strong bonds with the main cast, especially Valt Aoi, whom he respects after a hard-fought loss, and his younger brother, Ryota Kurogami, who is his biggest source of motivation and support. His devotion to his brother is a key driver for his character, revealing the caring individual behind his serious facade.

As a blader, Daina is a master of psychological warfare and thoroughly researches his opponents to disrupt their rhythm. His signature special moves include the Hunt Launch, where the performance tip of his beyblade grinds against the stadium for a speed boost and unpredictable movements, leaving a trail of dark purple energy. Another is the Double Strike, where a secondary scythe blade on Deathscyther slides out to deliver a devastating second hit. He can also combine these techniques into the Flying Double Strike, launching his bey from a wall to strike from above with increased gravity.
