Description
Fujiwara is the boyfriend of Hotaru Mizushina and a close friend of Takeda, who is the boyfriend of the main protagonist Yuma Okazaki. He is a student and a member of the school's basketball club. Physically, he is considered a very handsome and attractive young man with gray hair that reaches his neck and blue eyes. His birthday is on May 4th.
Fujiwara's personality is defined by a striking contradiction. He is described as being unfaithful and lacking in patience. Despite admitting that he does not like women, he openly states that he enjoys sex. His intellectual brilliance and athletic excellence make him appear nearly perfect in almost every area, a trait that can come across as irritating or unpleasantly flawless to others. This natural charisma and perfection make him popular with many women. Underneath this attractive surface, he has a manipulative and controlling nature and displays a significant temper. He is shown to be physically forceful, having once given Hotaru a black eye. His primary motivation seems to be the influence and power he can exert over others, viewing relationships in terms of physical gratification and control rather than emotional connection.
In the story, Fujiwara serves as a primary antagonistic figure and a major source of conflict. He quickly perceives the secret, intimate relationship developing between Yuma and his own girlfriend, Hotaru. Rather than addressing the situation with understanding, he uses this knowledge to manipulate and control those around him. He confronts Yuma, reproaching her for what he views as disloyal and unfair actions towards his friend Takeda. In one instance, he even suggests joining the two girls for a threesome, claiming he can make Yuma realize she truly desires a man instead of a woman. His presence forces the other characters into difficult positions, as seen when he takes Hotaru to his room for the night, leaving Yuma with little choice but to invite Takeda into hers.
His key relationships are central to his role. His relationship with Hotaru is not based on love or affection but is explicitly a relationship of convenience built on physical sex. Hotaru states she stays with him because she feels she is not a good person and he is not a good man, making their arrangement comfortable in its mutual cynicism. Despite his claims of simply enjoying a complication-free sexual relationship, his actions reveal a possessive and abusive partner who uses violence to enforce his will. In contrast, his relationship with Takeda is one of friendship. However, Fujiwara's loyalty seems to manifest in a toxic way, as he condemns Yuma for her actions toward Takeda while seemingly ignoring or justifying his own abusive behavior toward Hotaru. He often leaves Takeda unaware of the full truth, manipulating situations rather than being a supportive or honest friend.
Fujiwara does not undergo significant development or change throughout the narrative. He remains a consistently antagonistic and manipulative figure who is primarily interested in his own desires and control. His role serves to highlight the abusive dynamics that contrast with the more naive relationships of the other characters and to act as a catalyst for the story's central conflicts. His notable abilities include his high intelligence, his perceptiveness in detecting the secret relationship between Yuma and Hotaru, and his exceptional all-around athletic skill.
