Description
Batson Thermonen is a supporting character from the Fremmevilla Kingdom in the series Knight's & Magic. He is a boy of the Dwarf race, which gives him a smaller stature, tanned skin, and red hair. Coming from a family of craftsmen, he is the son of the owner of the Termonen Workshop, a small factory.

Before entering the academy, Batson was often bullied by his peers due to being a dwarf; although his race is strong, his running speed is slow, which prevented him from fighting back effectively. This situation was resolved by Ernesti Echevarria and the twins Archid and Adeltrud Olter, which led to Batson quickly becoming close friends with them. Initially, he thought he would one day take over his father's workshop, but through his association with Ernesti, he developed a dream of becoming a Knight Smith, a craftsman specializing in Silhouette Knights.

Within the story, Batson plays a crucial role as the technical backbone of the Silver Phoenix Knights. He primarily works in the crafting faculty and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and repair of Silhouette Gear and weapons. Because he develops and tinkers with this equipment alongside Ernesti, his knowledge of Silhouette Gear is exceptionally deep, even surpassing his understanding of the complete Silhouette Knights themselves. While he is a top-tier maintenance engineer for Silhouette Knights, he is considered to lag behind his senior, David Hepken, in that specific area.

In the latter part of the Western Great War, Batson takes on the role of helmsman for the anti-air ramming ship Gilbavel. Later, with the arrival of the airship era, he is semi-forced to take command of the construction of the Levitate Ship Izumo, which becomes the mother ship of the Winzine style. This elevates him to the position of Shipbuilding Department Chief within the Silver Phoenix Knights, a role that is nominally under Captain David Hepken but operates with a degree of independence.

His key relationships are centered on his childhood friends. He is a close friend and technical collaborator with Ernesti, often getting swept up in Ernesti's intense and demanding projects, leading him to complain that he is the one who has to fix everything. He also works closely under the tutelage of the senior Knight Smith David Hepken. The immense stress of building airships causes Batson to start drinking heavily, a habit David Hepken notably comments on.

Batson develops from a bullied boy and a hesitant heir to a workshop into a confident and highly skilled technical specialist and leader. His abilities lie not in piloting Silhouette Knights, but in the engineering and mechanical arts. He is an expert craftsman and mechanic, particularly gifted with the intricate Silhouette Gear systems, and later proves capable of managing large-scale construction projects like the Izumo.
