Description
Corone Dora is a central character in the story of No Game No Life Zero, serving as a key figure among the human survivors during the chaotic Great War. She is a young woman who leads a small colony of Imanity, the race of humans, at a time when they are pushed to the brink of extinction by the wars of more powerful races.
Physically, Corone is petite and bears a striking resemblance to a later descendant, with bright hair and blue eyes. She often wears aviator goggles on her head, a testament to her practical and hands-on nature within the harsh environment of the colony. Her most defining relationship is with Riku, the colony's young leader. After Riku lost his own family to the crossfire of a battle between the Flügel and Dragonias, Corone stepped in, proclaiming herself his older sister to give him a new familial bond. She insists he call her "Nee-san" to reinforce this, and Riku affectionately refers to her as "Koru".
Corone's personality is a blend of playful teasing and fierce, protective loyalty. She is known to joke with Riku about his personal life, such as his virginity or the smell of his clothing, and exhibits a mischievous side, as shown when she teases him and the Ex-Machina girl Shuvi upon finding them sleeping together. Beneath this lighthearted exterior, however, lies a deeply caring and pragmatic individual. She is fiercely protective of her family, scolding Riku for the reckless use of Black Ash that permanently damages his body and embracing him in moments of loss.
Her primary motivation is the safety and survival of her family and their colony. She possesses excellent leadership skills and a sharp intellect, capable of understanding and even repairing technology belonging to other, far more advanced races. This perceptiveness extends to people; she immediately recognizes that Shuvi is not human upon their first meeting. However, out of complete trust in Riku's judgment, she chooses not to expose the machine's secret.
Corone plays a crucial role as the emotional anchor and practical support for Riku. While he devises a desperate and secret plan to end the war by becoming the "Ghost" and manipulating the other races, Corone remains in the colony. Riku entrusts her with the leadership of the people, a responsibility she accepts to enable his mission. She also serves as the sole witness to Riku and Shuvi's marriage, using a precious gem inherited from her grandfather to create a pendant on which she carves their three names as a symbol of their family. This pendant becomes the Dola family heirloom, passed down through generations.
In terms of development, Corone transforms from a survivor in a desperate colony to the founder of a nation. After Riku and Shuvi succeed in their plan, leading to the end of the Great War and the crowning of the One True God Tet, Corone leads the remnants of humanity to establish the kingdom of Elchea. She becomes its first queen, remembered in legends as a wise, dignified, and kind ruler who never allowed anyone to see her weep. While she is frequently playful and emotionally open with her family, this legendary stoicism as queen highlights her immense strength and the public face she maintained in their memory. Her most notable abilities are not magical or combative, but rather her exceptional perceptiveness, her strong leadership, and her profound emotional strength, which allow her to hold a broken family together and later build a nation from the ashes of a world at war.
