Description
Mikan Kise is a second-year high school student from Hinano City and the daughter of a lemon farmer. She previously belonged to her school’s cheerleading club and has a gentle, caring nature, especially toward children. Her primary motivation stems from her deep affection for her younger sister, Yuzuka Kise, to whom she once promised that she would someday be able to see an action stage event. When a scheduled performance by the popular local heroine Kamidaio is unexpectedly cancelled, Mikan takes the initiative to ask her classmate Ann Akagi to help put on an impromptu Kamidaio show for Yuzuka and her friends. This amateur performance catches the attention of student council president Misaki Shirogane, who subsequently recruits both Mikan and Ann into the Action Heroine Project, a campaign designed to revitalize the struggling town. Mikan becomes a core member of the resulting group, the Cheer Fruits, taking on the role of Cheer Yellow and also writing scripts for their original Hina Nectar shows. Though she is shy and often takes on tasks and volunteer work even when she cannot keep up, she steadily gains confidence through her involvement. Misaki occasionally assigns her hosting duties in an effort to help her grow more self-assured. Mikan’s relationships with her teammates, especially Ann and Misaki, are central to her development as she learns to balance her natural reserve with the demands of live performance. Her notable abilities include scriptwriting, a background in cheerleading, and a reliable, gentle presence that helps ground the group. By the end of the series, she has become more comfortable in the spotlight while still retaining her characteristic kindness.
