TV-Series
Description
Amelia Ruth is a vampire whose true name, Florifel ("She Who Guides Spring"), was corrupted by the entity Naenia, transforming her into a curse-bearer. This corruption bestowed the Malnomen Églantine ("Prison of Briars"), manifesting as entangling black briars and an intense sensation of cold. Seeking treatment, she journeyed to Paris.
Previously living an ordinary life, her transformation began upon encountering thick fog while returning home with apples. Charlatan, a manifestation of Naenia, emerged and forcibly kissed her, warping her name and erasing her memory of the event. Weeks later, fainting spells revealed her curse-bearer status, leading her to contact Doctor Vanitas.
Aboard the airship La Baleine en route to Paris, Amelia collapsed due to her worsening condition. Noé Archiviste aided her, escorting her to a café. There, she expressed reluctance to see a doctor and showed fondness for Noé's cat, Murr. As her Malnomen intensified, severe chills and hallucinations of Charlatan culminated in her attacking Noé and drinking his blood to alleviate the cold. Vanitas intervened, curing her by restoring her true name using the Book of Vanitas.
Despite being cured, Count Orlok imprisoned Amelia, deeming curse-bearers irredeemable and ordering her execution. Vanitas and Noé intervened, proving her stability and securing her release under Orlok's supervision. As part of this arrangement, she became a live-in maid at Hôtel Chouchou, where Vanitas and Noé resided, performing domestic tasks like sewing and mending their clothing.
Amelia has light brown hair, typically styled in a braided bun with framing bangs, light brown eyes, and fair skin. She initially wore a pink hat, corset, and skirt with a violet jacket, later adopting a simpler dark magenta maid uniform with an apron at the hotel.
Her personality is kind, polite, and joyful. She is easily flustered, often displaying a light blush, and exhibits curiosity about others, observing the habits of Hôtel Chouchou's residents. She remains tactful in sensitive situations, discreetly assisting to avoid interrupting private conversations. Despite her near-execution, she holds no resentment toward Count Orlok and takes pride in her work. She frequently offers snacks and assistance, reflecting her helpful nature.
Beyond domestic duties, she occasionally aids Vanitas and Noé in investigations, such as relaying information about suspicious activities. Her presence at Hôtel Chouchou provides emotional stability, particularly for Vanitas, with whom she shares a uniquely positive dynamic. She harbors an unspoken affection for Noé, admiring his gentle and dorkish qualities.
Amelia cannot return home due to her neighbors' discovery of her curse-bearer status. She remains under Orlok's watch at the hotel, continuing as a maid while quietly supporting the protagonists' endeavors.
