Description
Lucius "Luca" Oriflamme, the young heir to the Oriflamme Dukedom, holds the hereditary title of Grand Duke within vampire society. This position grants him significant political authority, second only to the Vampire Queen. Due to his age, his adoptive uncle August Ruthven handles most official duties, leading some senators to dismiss Luca as a mere child or puppet figure.

Physically, Luca resembles a pre-adolescent boy. Short reddish-brown hair with distinctive cowlicks crowns his head, complemented by thin eyebrows, large upturned green eyes, and long eyelashes. He typically wears formal attire, such as a green mantle detailed with silver over a white shirt and black shorts, often accessorized with a hat.

Personality-wise, Luca exudes maturity and responsibility beyond his years, maintaining calm composure in official settings. He possesses a fierce protective instinct, particularly toward his chevalier, Jeanne, whom he values deeply. This devotion triggers intense aggression when she is threatened, as seen when Vanitas kissed her without consent, causing Luca to erupt in uncontrolled flames. He frequently suppresses childish tendencies but exhibits nervous habits like clutching objects when anxious.

His story begins in Paris confronting Vanitas and Noé Archiviste. He demands the Book of Vanitas to cure his older brother Loki, a curse-bearer languishing imprisoned in Carbunculus Castle. Ruthven later discourages further attempts to heal Loki. At the Bal Masqué, Luca apologizes to Noé for his initial hostility and witnesses Charlatan's attack. When Ruthven threatens Vanitas over questions about the Vampire Queen's condition, Luca intervenes to stop the violence and later seeks guidance at the queen's bedside.

During the Gévaudan incident's senate hearing, Luca breaks his usual silence to prevent Jeanne's execution, asserting his authority as her master. This intervention shifts her official allegiance from Ruthven to himself. Later, he expresses concern over Jeanne's growing attachment to Vanitas, dragging her to Dominique de Sade for counsel after she confirms her romantic feelings. He also observes Dominique's unusual behavior during this encounter.

Luca's abilities include standard vampire enhancements in speed, strength, and endurance. His primary supernatural power is pyrokinesis, manifesting as explosive bursts of flame during extreme emotional distress, though he lacks precise control over this ability.

Key relationships define his journey: Ruthven serves as his guardian and political handler; Loki is his beloved brother whose curse motivates Luca's early actions; and Jeanne functions as both his protector and emotional anchor, with Luca prioritizing her safety above political consequences.
