Description
Neige is a supporting character introduced in the early arcs of Black Clover. He is a lean young man with long white hair that falls past his shoulders and in front of his nose, and he wears all‑white clothing. He is the younger brother of Baro, a thief, and the two operate together as petty criminals. Neige is timid, soft‑spoken, and deeply lonely. His primary motivation is a desperate desire for companionship. Because he has no friends, he clings to his older brother and follows his orders without fully questioning their morality.

Neige appears during a storyline in which he and Baro, at the behest of the organization Eye of the Midnight Sun, kidnap children from the town of Nairn. Neige uses his Snow Magic to entrance the children and lead them to a hidden cave, where they are held captive under a magical barrier. He greets the children as his new friends, revealing his childlike longing for connection. However, he does not seem to grasp the full gravity of his actions and acts primarily out of fear of being abandoned by his brother.

When Asta, Gauche Adlai, and other Magic Knights arrive to intervene, Neige is confronted by Gauche. After being defeated, Neige breaks down and confesses that all he ever wanted was to have friends. Shortly afterward, Baro transforms into a mud monster and attacks Neige, showing no regard for his well‑being. Asta protects Neige, and in a symbolic turn, Neige puts himself in harm’s way to shield the Magic Knights, demonstrating that his heart is not malicious like his brother’s. He is taken into custody and, before being led away, asks Asta to be his friend.

Neige’s character arc is one of redemption. He is not inherently evil but is a lost individual molded by his environment. His brief development highlights the theme that even those who make serious mistakes can change when shown empathy. His Snow Magic is rare within the series and reflects his personality: cold, quiet, and delicate. He is capable of generating heavy snowfall, creating snow constructs such as snowmen and icy restraints, and blanketing a wide area with snow, which gives him strong battlefield control. Despite his timid demeanor, he possesses considerable mana reserves.

Neige’s key relationship is with his brother Baro, who exploits his loyalty. His brief but meaningful connection with Asta and the Magic Knights represents his turning point toward a better path. Though Neige does not appear in later major arcs, his role leaves a lasting impression as a character who embodies the potential for growth and the importance of kindness.
