Description
Lang is the eldest son of Mido, the woman who takes in Maquia and the infant Ariel after they flee the destruction of the Iorph homeland. He grows up on the Helm farm alongside his younger brother Deol, the family dog Onora, and the newly arrived Maquia and Ariel. As a child, Lang is described as unruly and rambunctious, but he develops a strong and easygoing bond with both Maquia and Ariel during their years living together. As he enters his teenage years, he becomes more emotionally mature and begins to show compassion towards Maquia, particularly during moments of emotional turmoil. He grows into a thoughtful and good-hearted young man. In adulthood, Lang becomes a soldier serving in the Mezarte army at the royal castle. He maintains his protective feelings for Maquia, demonstrating a lifelong devotion to her and even offering her a place by his side. His motivation is largely driven by a desire to keep Maquia safe and to support those he cares about. Throughout the story, Lang serves as a stable human anchor, transitioning from a helpful farm boy to a high-ranking soldier who remains a moral compass for Ariel. His key relationships include his mother Mido, his brother Deol, his childhood friend and adoptive brother figure Ariel, and Maquia, towards whom he harbors a deep but unrequited affection. He remains a loyal friend to Ariel throughout their lives. Lang's notable abilities include his strength and reliability as a soldier, which he uses in service of the Mezarte kingdom. His development reflects a journey from a playful boy to a responsible and protective man, consistently acting with thoughtfulness and good-heartedness.
