Description
Mitsuki Yukimura is a student in Class 2-1 of Kure Academy and a central participant in the deadly King's Game that traps her and her classmates. She is a small, delicate girl with blue hair styled into twin tails and green eyes, typically seen wearing the standard female uniform of the school. Her background before the game is not heavily detailed, but she is established as a quiet and gentle classmate who becomes drawn into the life-or-death social experiment when all members of her class receive orders from a mysterious figure known only as the King.

In terms of personality, Mitsuki is kind-hearted, timid, and instinctively opposed to violence. She is deeply uncomfortable with the game's premise and demonstrates a strong moral compass early on when she receives an instruction to text the word "DIE" to two specific classmates, an act that would result in their immediate death. Rather than comply, she refuses outright and smashes her phone, openly defying the King's command and protecting her peers at potential personal risk. This action highlights her core motivation: to survive without becoming complicit in harming others. She is driven by empathy and a desire to end the game peacefully, even when surrounded by escalating paranoia and brutal punishments.

Her role in the story is that of a key ally to the main protagonist, Nobuaki Kanazawa, who has already survived a previous King's Game. Mitsuki is one of the few classmates who trusts Nobuaki when others turn against him. She accompanies him and another classmate, Kenta Akamatsu, on a journey to Yonaki Village in an attempt to learn the origins of the King's Game and find a way to stop it. During this trip, she remains a steadfast but vulnerable presence, relying on Nobuaki's experience and Kenta's determination.

Her relationships are defined by the extreme circumstances of the game. She forms a close bond with Kenta, who is given an order to protect her and chooses to honor that duty even after his initial assignment is fulfilled. She also interacts warily with Natsuko Honda, a manipulative student who tries to pressure her into following the King's orders and even attempts to use Nobuaki's past against him. Mitsuki's loyalty to Nobuaki grows as he shares his knowledge and his own painful history with the game.

Over the course of the series, Mitsuki undergoes modest but meaningful development. She starts as a fearful, passive observer and gradually becomes more outspoken in her refusal to let the game corrupt her values. Her resolve is tested as she witnesses the gruesome deaths of classmates and faces the constant threat of punishment. She does not develop any supernatural or exceptional abilities; her significance lies in her moral resilience and her willingness to stand against the King's authority through noncompliance and solidarity.

Mitsuki Yukimura ultimately represents a fragile beacon of humanity in the horror of the King's Game. Her journey is cut short in the anime when she is killed after Kenta fails to protect her during the Yonaki Village expedition, underscoring the series' grim theme that even the most innocent participants are not immune to the game's fatal consequences.
