TV-Series
Description
Bishop is a major antagonist who serves as one of the three highest-ranking lieutenants, known as the Three Swords, directly under the enigmatic King of the hidden city of El Dorado. He is named after the chess piece, a fitting designation that reflects his strategic and manipulative nature. His background before becoming a servant of the King is not explored in the series, and he is first seen operating in the shadows, expressing disdain for the failures of other agents and a clear awareness of the threat posed by the protagonist, Sword.

Bishop's personality is defined by cunning, cruelty, and a meticulous approach to his objectives. He is a sadistic figure who prefers to work from behind the scenes, using others as pawns to achieve his goals while keeping his own hands clean. Unlike his more direct and duty-bound colleagues, Knight and Queen, Bishop exhibits a playful yet malevolent demeanor, seemingly taking genuine pleasure in manipulating events and playing mind games with both his enemies and his allies. He is frequently seen smirking, even when his plans fail, suggesting a deep-seated confidence or a hidden agenda that extends beyond simple loyalty to the King. He often annoys his colleagues for his own amusement, highlighting his independent and somewhat rebellious streak.

Bishop's primary motivation appears to be serving the King's will, though the nature of this loyalty is ambiguous. In contrast to Queen, whose devotion seems absolute, Bishop follows orders more out of obligation or necessity than genuine faith, and his true motives remain a mystery. His main goal throughout the story is to capture the young girl, Sophie, as commanded by the King, and to eliminate the Makai Knight Sword and his allies who seek to destroy El Dorado. He is utterly ruthless in pursuit of this, showing no regard for innocent life, as demonstrated when he destroys an entire village with planted bombs merely to delay his enemies.

In the story, Bishop acts as the primary strategist and obstacle for the protagonists during their journey to El Dorado. While Knight serves as the powerful physical enforcer and Queen as another formidable agent, Bishop is the one who oversees the city's daily operations and devises the complex traps that test Sword, Luke, and Gina. He is a master of indirect confrontation, using Horrors, brainwashed humans, and elaborate deceptions to attack the heroes without ever engaging them directly in combat. He first demonstrates his cunning by tricking the vigilantes of the town of Sundeldios into believing Sword is a child kidnapper, forcing the heroes to fight humans they cannot harm. When this plan fails, he destroys the town as a parting act of spite.

Bishop's key relationships are primarily with his fellow lieutenants, Knight and Queen, and his master, the King. The dynamic among the Three Swords is notably strained, with Bishop often mocking and manipulating the others. He shows a particular disdain for Knight, using Queen's loyalty to further his own schemes and even sending Knight on dangerous missions. Despite their mutual animosity, they are forced to work together to protect El Dorado. He also has a relationship with the scientist Dr. Stanley, whom he uses as an expendable pawn, ultimately killing him with a bomb when he ceases to be useful.

Throughout the series, Bishop's character shows little emotional development, remaining consistently manipulative and elusive. However, his strategic role evolves as he is forced to take more direct action. After his minions fail to capture Sophie, he personally intervenes, setting a massive trap with a horde of Horrors and a giant, remodeled Horror to corner Sword's party. When his plans are continuously thwarted, he finally reveals himself to take Sophie, melting into the shadows to avoid Sword's attacks. The only hint of change comes at the story's climax. After Sophie destroys the core of El Dorado and the King is defeated, Bishop does not fight to the death. Instead, he disappears with a satisfied smile, later seen looking at the moon and speaking as if to an unseen companion, suggesting he was liberated by the King's fall and is now free to pursue his own unknown agenda.

Bishop's notable abilities make him a uniquely elusive and dangerous foe. His primary power is the ability to melt into shadows, allowing him to teleport, avoid attacks, and observe events without being detected. He also has access to powerful dark magic, including the ability to cast destructive spells, create magical barriers, and plant explosive charms. He can also shape-shift, using this ability to disguise himself as others to manipulate his targets. Bishop demonstrates considerable control over Horrors, using them as his personal army and even overseeing the creation of modified, more powerful Horrors with the help of scientists like Dr. Stanley. While his full combat potential is never fully revealed, as he consistently avoids direct confrontation, he is implied to be a formidable magic user and is resourceful enough to survive the fall of El Dorado, making him the only surviving member of the Three Swords.
