Description
Chop Shop, also known in the Japanese version of Transformers: Robots in Disguise as Migite Kumo, is a Decepticon who was originally imprisoned aboard the prison ship Alchemor. Following the vessel's crash on Earth, he became one of the many inmates loose on the planet.

In terms of personality, Chop Shop is defined by his kleptomania, possessing an uncontrollable urge to steal almost anything he can find. He is a career criminal with a lengthy record on Cybertron, yet he is not the typical bloodthirsty Decepticon warrior. Instead, he is pragmatic and somewhat cowardly, preferring to flee from a fight rather than risk being captured and returned to confinement. He primarily desires to be left alone to pursue his interests, but his compulsion to commit theft inevitably brings him into conflict with others. His speech patterns include a Cockney accent, which adds to his distinctive, roguish character.

Chop Shop's primary motivation after arriving on Earth is to escape. He is not interested in conquest or battling the Autobots; his singular goal is to construct a spacecraft and return to Cybertron. To this end, he steals a variety of specific components, including copper wiring, kerosene, computer chips, an aircraft gyroscope, and liquid oxygen, setting up a makeshift base in an abandoned building to build his vessel.

Within the story, Chop Shop serves as an early and recurring antagonist for Bumblebee's team of Autobots. His first appearance involves him gathering parts for his ship, leading to a confrontation where he easily overpowers the Autobots with his unique abilities. His role expands beyond a single encounter, as one of his components, his right arm named Righty, escapes capture and continues to appear in later episodes, attempting to free the rest of his body.

Chop Shop's key relationships are primarily antagonistic with the Autobot team, including Bumblebee, Strongarm, Sideswipe, and Grimlock. He develops a particularly strange relationship with the Mini-Con Fixit. When his own right arm is captured, Chop Shop forcibly attaches Fixit to his body as a replacement limb, using the unwilling Autobot as a weapon. This forced partnership is short-lived, as Fixit eventually rebels and helps defeat him. His detached component, Righty, also has a brief, tense interaction with the human Denny Clay and his son Russell. After being freed from another Decepticon named Nightstrike, Righty aids the humans before escaping, demonstrating a rare moment of transactional, if not altruistic, behavior.

Chop Shop shows little in the way of emotional development, remaining focused on his escape. However, his component Righty does display a small degree of change. After being freed from Nightstrike, Righty chooses to help the human characters, albeit in a minimal way by throwing paint at their attacker, before leaving. This suggests that even a fragment of Chop Shop is capable of something beyond pure self-interest, even if it is just repaying a debt.

Chop Shop's most notable ability is being a one-bot combiner. He can separate his body into five individual, spider-like robots that act as his limbs. Each component can move independently, perform complex tasks, and deliver a powerful, painful sting that can paralyze other Transformers. This ability makes him an expert thief and a difficult target to capture, as he can escape in multiple directions at once. As a last resort, he can forcibly integrate a smaller Cybertronian to serve as a replacement for any of his missing components. In his combined robot form, he possesses significant physical strength and can generate red electricity from his body to shock and incapacitate his enemies.
