Description
Paralon is a Decepticon relic hunter who appears in the animated series Transformers: Robots in Disguise. He transforms into a mechanical scorpion with a purple color scheme, and his robot mode closely resembles that of Scorponok, sharing the same general body type. His tail-mounted stinger can detach and be wielded as a scimitar-like blade in robot mode.
As a member of the Scavengers, a clan of Decepticons devoted to hunting down and salvaging Cybertronian relics, Paralon is driven by a strong desire to prove himself. He is always looking for the next major score before someone else can claim it and steal his glory. His ambition leads him to act ruthlessly; he is willing to do almost anything to earn a reputation, even brutalizing other Decepticons to get what he wants.
In the story, Paralon is introduced working alongside a Mini-Con named Buzzstrike. He tortures another Decepticon to obtain a map of Autobot Outpost Omega One and then raids the outpost with Buzzstrike in search of artifacts. The pair battles Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Drift, and Drift's Mini-Con students, initially gaining the upper hand when Paralon links with Buzzstrike to fight. Paralon accelerates the bomb they had set to breach the lower levels and discovers a weapon half-buried in the rubble, but he is rendered unconscious in a fight with Sideswipe. When he wakes, he is furious to find that Buzzstrike carried him to safety without recovering the weapon.
Later, Paralon appears alongside his fellow Scavengers aboard their mothership. The group tracks a signal to an automated vessel holding the Dark Star Saber, but the Mini-Cons they are pursuing escape, and Starscream arrives to claim the sword, sweeping the Scavengers into the sea. The Scavengers continue hunting the Mini-Cons, who have allied with Optimus Prime and Team Bee. During the ensuing conflict, Paralon comes off worst in a fight when Strongarm and Sawtooth team up against him. Although the Scavengers manage to trap the Autobots in a net, Starscream swoops in and snatches the Mini-Cons. The Autobots escape with help from Thermidor and Tricerashot, defeat Paralon and the other Scavengers, and place them in restraints before Optimus Prime secures them aboard his ship for transport back to Cybertron.
Paralon's notable abilities include his scorpion alternate mode and his ability to combine with Buzzstrike, whose mysterious powers and powerful axe mode make the pair a formidable threat in combat. He also appears as a recruitable character in the Robots in Disguise mobile game, where he can be enlisted to help fight off an Insecticon clone army threatening Crown City.
