Description
Axiom is a minor antagonist in the animated series Transformers: Robots in Disguise, belonging to a class of smaller Cybertronians known as Mini-Cons. Originally a Decepticon, Axiom was one of the many prisoners being transported aboard the prison ship Alchemor before it crash-landed on Earth. His escape from stasis, alongside his fellow Mini-Con Theorem and their larger associate Simacore, set the trio on a path of opportunistic villainy.
In terms of personality, Axiom is defined by a haughty and intelligent disposition. He spends a considerable amount of time sniping and arguing with his partner Theorem, as the two share a perpetually contentious relationship. Despite their constant bickering, this rivalry is not a true weakness, as they are able to put aside their petty differences when faced with a common threat. Their shared frustration is often directed outward, particularly towards the Autobots, who they seem to view as unworthy adversaries. The pair especially enjoy taking out their frustrations on those they consider to be oafish or less intelligent than themselves, such as the Autobot warrior Grimlock.
Axiom's primary motivation appears to be serving Simacore, to whom he and Theorem act as loyal Mini-Con partners. He follows Simacore's lead in criminal endeavors, such as breaking into an experimental energy research laboratory to steal a particle accelerator's secondary control circuit, a component valuable for powering a Cybertronian starship. In his role within the story, Axiom functions as muscle and support for Simacore, engaging directly with the Autobot team. During the raid on the laboratory, he was deployed to fight against the Autobot Strongarm. Later, he and Theorem captured the Autobots Bumblebee and Strongarm, strapping them to a particle accelerator cannon as a threat to force Grimlock to surrender the circuit they were after.
The key relationships in Axiom's story are with his two companions. His relationship with Theorem is one of constant, petty argument, yet they remain effective partners in combat. His relationship with Simacore is that of a subordinate and enforcer, following her commands in their various schemes. Axiom also holds a notable antagonistic view of the Autobots, particularly Grimlock, whom he and Theorem look down upon.
In terms of development, Axiom remains a relatively static character. His arc concludes with his defeat by Grimlock, after which he and his partners are captured and returned to a stasis pod. These stasis pods were later collected and taken back to the planet Cybertron by Autobot forces, effectively removing him as a threat on Earth. Notably, a later scheme saw Simacore create clones of Axiom and Theorem in an attempt to seek revenge on the Autobot team, indicating his design was considered a useful asset by his leader.
As a notable ability, Axiom possesses the physical attributes common to a Mini-Con, which includes being smaller and more agile than a standard Cybertronian. He is equipped with claws, which he and Theorem used in an attempt to claw their way through a metal door. He is also capable of direct physical combat, as seen in his fight with the Autobot Strongarm.
