Description
Higana, a Draconid lorekeeper from Hoenn, dedicates herself to preserving her tribe’s ancient traditions tied to Rayquaza. As successor to the late lorekeeper Aster, she inherits a Whismur bearing her predecessor’s name, symbolizing her connection to the past. Her duties include guarding knowledge of Mega Evolution and monitoring interdimensional threats, particularly a parallel Hoenn endangered by recurring meteoroid strikes.

To avert disaster, Higana covertly joins Team Magma or Aqua, manipulating their leaders to awaken Groudon or Kyogre, intending to trigger Rayquaza’s intervention despite the collateral risks. When the player disrupts her scheme, she pivots to stealing Key Stones to force Rayquaza’s Mega Evolution. Desperate to protect her world, she destroys Mossdeep Space Center’s dimensional shifter, disregarding consequences for other realities.

During the Delta Episode, Higana leads the player to Sky Pillar but falters when unable to command Rayquaza’s transformation. Relinquishing her role, she aids the player in bonding with Rayquaza, enabling the meteoroid’s destruction. Post-crisis, she leaves Hoenn, abandoning her Salamencite and a grateful farewell note, marking her departure from duty.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Higana clashes with Ruby at Sky Pillar, exposing her past failure to free Rayquaza and her distrust of technology. These encounters reveal her moral conflict: destructive methods driven by a sincere desire to shield all worlds.

Her bond with Aster the Whismur reflects her inner vulnerability, often addressing it with maternal care and entrusting it to allies during peril. This dynamic echoes her grief over losing the original Aster, adding depth to her resolve.

Higana’s arc concludes with partial redemption—returning stolen Key Stones and seeking a future beyond her inherited role. Her exit from Hoenn signifies a transformation from guarded lorekeeper to an individual charting her own path.
