Her significant narrative arc unfolds primarily in the episode "The Discovery," where she locates and captures the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo within Cerulean Cave before either Trace or Green. This success triggers a battle challenge from Green, who seeks to claim Mewtwo. Ayumi commands her partner Pikachu, using Zippy Zap to defeat Green's Clefable; Rapidash, which falls to Green's Ninetales; and Mewtwo itself, contained in an Ultra Ball.
