Motismadex, known in other regions as the Rotom Pokédex, is a unique electronic device inhabited by a Rotom that appears in the anime Pokémon Sun & Moon. It is given to Ash Ketchum by Professor Kukui at the beginning of his journey through the Alola region. The device functions as a standard Pokédex, providing information about Pokémon, but its Rotom inhabitant gives it a distinct personality and the ability to speak directly to its trainer. Motismadex is helpful, eager, and somewhat excitable, often offering advice, directions, and facts without being asked. Its primary motivation is to assist its trainer in completing the Pokédex and navigating the region, and it takes its role seriously.
